After leaving the prison, I went straight to the kindergarten. Oliver was about to finish school, and I had promised to be the first to pick him up. When Oliver saw me, his face lit up with a beaming smile.
“Mommy.”
He ran into my arms, his little hands clinging to my neck.
“Why are you the only one here? Isn’t Daddy coming?”
