Chapter 15
As soon as I arrived at the Mitchell Family estate with Oliver, my mother immediately ushered him to the kitchen to enjoy the pastries she had made. Although he was an unexpected grandson, my mother adored him to no end.
What I didn’t expect was to run into Keith here. His eyes were slightly bruised, suggesting he had been burning the midnight oil. When he saw me, he stood up with excitement, rubbing his hands together.
“Lesley, let’s have a talk.”
I wrinkled my nose in disgust as my mother

took Oliver to the kitchen. In the living room, it was just Keith and me.
“What do you want to discuss, Keith? If it’s about the company, save your breath. I can’t make decisions for my brother.”
Since learning about Keith’s actions, my brother had taken a stance against the the Barber Group and Jeremy, demanding justice for Oliver. Keith was clearly in a precarious
situation.
But Keith merely shook his head with a
rueful smile.
“Lesley, Oliver is our child, isn’t he?”
His eyes held hope, causing a jolt in my

heart. Some things were impossible to conceal. With Oliver resembling Keith som much, it was only a matter of time before the truth came to light.
Keith grasped my hand with urgency. “Lesley, let’s remarry. Oliver needs a complete family. I will bring him back to the Barber Family, and we can live together as a family.”
Keith’s words were as repulsive as the man
himself. I had been blind to have ever chosen
such a man.
I coldly pulled my hand away and asked, feigning indifference, “And Lynley? I don’t tolerate hypocrisy.”
Keith frowned. “Lesley, he’s also your child.”

I smiled coldly, my eyes full of disdain. Keith’s intent was merely to leverage the Mitchell Group to help the the Barber Group.
“Keith, if you still have a shred of decency, stay away from Oliver. I’ll arrange for his transfer to another school, but keep the Barber Family away. If not, I won’t hesitate to destroy everything.
“Focus on your son and leave Oliver out of it.”
I was resolute. Keith stared at me for a long moment before saying, “Believe it or not, I only brought Lynley here to spare you from the pain of losing a child. At that time, I didn’t know our child was still alive.”
“Get out!”
I pointed to the door, my chest heaving with emotion. I won’t extend an ounce of trust for his words ever again.
