Chapter 16
After Keith left, my mother came out holding Oliver. I wasn’t sure if Oliver had overheard
our conversation.
He handed me a piece of cookie.
“Mommy, don’t be angry. Grandma’s cookies are really good.”
Oliver was so considerate, more than a child his age should be. I even wished he would cry and ask me why I didn’t want him. But he didn’t, his thoughtfulness only made my
heart ache.
I resigned from my job and focused all my

attention on Oliver. Jeremy still lived next door and often came over for meals. One day at the dinner table, he suddenly asked, “Have you ever thought about changing Oliver’s name?”
I considered it and shook my head. “He’s very attached to you as his father. Let him make decisions about these things when he’s eighteen.”
Jeremy’s eyes held a hint of amusement. In Oliver’s life, Jeremy was his real father. I didn’t want to disrupt that balance.
Since transferring Oliver to a new school, I hadn’t seen Lynley again. The next time I heard about him was at a party. Keith, having been targeted by the Mitchell Family,

had caused the Barber Group to lose over a
hundred million. He was dismissed, and the
Barber Group had a new leader.
Keith had a chance to make a comeback, but
Acelynn wouldn’t allow it. After Acelynn went to prison, she went mad, especially when she
learned Keith wanted to reconcile with me.
She spread all of Keith’s wrongdoings online -fraud, infidelity, making his legitimate wife support his illegitimate son. Keith became infamous, and the Barber Family had to quickly disown him.
To minimize the damage, the Barber Family sent Keith and Lynley to another city. Perhaps because Keith was so despicable, even fate seemed against him. On the way out of town, he had a car accident and ended

up as a cripple.
Because of this, Lynley stayed with the Barber Family under the care of Keith’s parents. Opinions on Keith were mixed- some took pleasure in his downfall, others felt pity for him, believing he must have been mentally impaired to end up like this.
I simply listened and didn’t pay much attention. Keith had messaged me multiple times with “I regret it” after changing his phone number. I believed he would regret it, but so what? He deserved to live out his days in remorse, separated from his family, and never finding peace.
Meanwhile, my child and I would move towards a bright future.

The party lasted until ten, and I decided to leave. My friend quickly grabbed my arm. “There’s still the second half. Where are you going?”
I smiled. “The kid is restless and his dad is struggling to calm him down.”
My friend chuckled knowingly and let me go. As I exited the bar, I saw a familiar car outside. A small figure leaned against the car door, smiling with a hint of mischief.
“Mommy, come on, let’s go home and sleep.”
Oliver’s eyes were nearly closed as he rubbed them and tried to keep them open. I smiled and walked towards them.

-The End-
Book2: Only Idiots Beg For Love
I had been by Crispin Duncan’s side without any official title for three years.
His friends said I was the woman who had stayed with him the longest. I said nothing when I heard this, only smiled faintly.
Because I knew I was just a stand–in.
For those three years, I played my role diligently, enduring ridicule and pranks without leaving.

As long as Crispin said the word, nothing could stop me from doing whatever he asked.
I thought I would be entangled with Crispin forever until one day he returned.
The seductive mole at the corner of his eye
was gone.
I asked him why he removed it, but he impatiently pushed me down, saying it was because his first love didn’t like it.
At that moment, I knew my plan had to
begin.
So, I suggested we break up, but he went

mad.
