Chapter 67
“And I don’t know how it gets better than this
You take my hand and drag me head first
Fearless.
And I don’t know why
But with you I’d dance in a storm
ny best dress
In my
Fearless.”
I heard two voices singing totally off tune at the top
top of their lungs and 1 instantly smiled because they belonged to my girls. I was at work and came back to our new house because Emily told me that she was there with Rosie.
Despite how wealthy we both were, our daughter wanted us to
to paint her room together, so that was what we decided to do. Emily took her earlier to the house to show it to her and introduce her to her new room and I told her not to start painting without me.
I walked inside Rosie’s bedroom and found Emily and Rosie dressed in denim overalls with white t–shirts underneath. Their blonde hair was tied up in messy buns and they were goofing around, singing and dancing to their favorite artist. It was easy to see that Rosie was a mini version of Emily and I loved that
1 liked how they didn’t notice me because it gave me the chance to take my phone out of my pocket and film them
“Mommy! Put on Enchanted!” Rosie squealed and Emily reached for her phone. While doing so, she saw me standing by the door, taking a video of
them
“Spying on us!” She smirked, making her way towards me. She kissed my lips and I took my time to kiss hers, already missing how they tasted. was in love with my new life and the kind of happiness that came with it
I
Tm simply mesmerized by the beauty of my girls.” I grinned as we pulled apart. My daughter came running towards me and as always, I picked her
“Such a sweet talker.” Emily stuck her tongue out at me, yet she snuggled into me.
“Are you going to dance with us, Daddy!” Rosie excitedly asked me.
“I was under the impression that I’m here to paint,” I pointed out, making my daughter pout. “Tm kidding. I’d love to dance with you. I kissed her cheek, making her smile brightly.
“And do you plan on painting in a ten thousand dollar suit?” My fashion expert raised her eyebrows as she eyed what I was wearing. Honestly, I hadn’t thought about that.
“It’s okay. I can buy another one.” I shrugged, setting Rosie down.
“Nope” Emily shook her head. She ran towards the corner of the room and fetched a white plastic bag. “It doesn’t feel right to match with Rosie and leave you out.” She grinned as she handed me the bag.
Arco’t
you perfect?” I quickly pecked her lips and went to change in one of the empty rooms.
1 opened the bag and found the exact overall and a plain white t–shirt inside. Quickly, I put them on and returned back to my girls. Once I stepped inside, the music started playing. Was that the song Rosie asked Emily to play?
“There I was again tonight
Forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place
Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacanity
Vanished when I saw your face
All I can say is, it was enchanting to meet you”
Emily and Rosie sang, pretending that the paint brushes in their hands were microphones. They were beautifully insane and I was thankful that I got to call them mine. At that moment, I wished I knew the lyrics to sing along with them.

Chapter 67
“Are you ready for the bridge. Mommy?” Rosie hollered, making me laugh. I was stunned by the amount of lyrics
“I’m ready, Cupcake!” Emily matched her excitement.
is me praying that
“This is me
This was the very first page
Not
where the storyline ends
My thoughts will echo your name, until I see you again
These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon
was enchanted to meet you
Please don’t be in love with someone else
Please don’t have somebody waiting on you
Please don’t be in love with someone else
Please don’t have somebody waiting on you.”
she memorized by heart.
I did my best to suppress my laughter as Emily and Rosie dramatically sang together. I thought back about Emily and the way she used to blast. Taylor Swift’s songs while cooking. There were certain songs that she would play more than the other that I sometimes found myself humming them while working. As they both sang, I realized that I had heard Emily singing those lyrics before,
After my girls were done with their mini concert, the three of us started to paint the walls of Rosie’s bedroom. We ended up choosing a light shade of pink since it was her favourite and Emily drew some white clouds on one of the walls.
“I want some shelves here for my books!” Rosie exclaimed, pointing at a certain place. “And you told me you’re going to build me a tent too, right?” She looked at Emily.
“Whatever you want, cupcake. Emily grinned at our daughter.
“And I will build the treehouse for you as I promised Would you like us to go to the backyard and choose a spot?” I asked her and her eyes immediately lit up as she quickly nodded.
We made our way to the backyard and for over thirty minutes, we walked around the area, attempting to find the perfect spot for Rosie’s treehouse. Finally, we found it. The tree was huge and it had massive branches. There were flowers around it and by the look on my daughter’s face, I knew that she was in love.
“Who is in the mood for pizza?” Emily exclaimed.
“Me!” Rosie and I hollered at the same time.
“I’m incredibly exhausted and can’t wait to go home, I muttered, wrapping my arm around my wife’s waist. We attended a business dinner together and it had been a long one.
I could have gone alone since it was related to my company; however, I wanted her to be with me. I didn’t know if she was truly free or she freed herself for me, yet I was glad that she was with me.
Ever since we got back together, I wanted the whole world to know that she was finally mine again. I adored being seen with her and loved the articles that were written about how we looked good together. I planned on proposing to her soon I didn’t want her to be my girlfriend anymore. because she was much more. She was my other half, the one I couldn’t live without I wanted to propose to her from the very first day she told me she was mine again, but I didn’t want her to feel ruslied. I wanted her to think thoroughly about our relationship and to see that I had really changed after all of those years.
I was living a dream that I didn’t want to wake up from My life was perfect in every single way and I didn’t want to change a single thing about it. but fate had something else hidden. Something dreadful that I was willing to pay my entire fortune to protect the love of my life from.
While Emily and I were waiting for the valet to fetch my car, four gunshots made everybody scream and rush around us. One minute, everything was fine, the next, all hell broke loose. The moment I heard the gunshots, I quickly pulled her down and covered her body with mine. She was my main priority and I wanted nothing but to keep her safe. Her safety was above mine. But, when I looked down at her, I found myself stepping into a nightmare and I didn’t know how to get out of it.
