Blindfold Of Love
Chapter 15
She swore she would never come back to the Jones family’s place, but here she
was.
The moment she stepped inside, she got slapped by Yvonne.
In her marriage to Franklin, Elizabeth had taken more than her fair share of hits, most from her respected third sister–in–law.
Yvonne’s temper was infamous, rumored to be a mental health issue, a legacy of her husband’s infidelity. Their once–happy homes wrecked by an affair and an illegitimate child.
This explained her intense disdain for Elizabeth, who was also a secret child.
“You’re a curse, bringing disaster upon your own parents. Now you’re trying to bring it upon Frank too, huh?” Yvonne’s words were harsh.
The sting in Elizabeth’s ears was drowned out by Yvonne’s venom, her cheek ablaze from the slap. Yvonne’s nails had left thin, bloody trails.
Elizabeth’s head hung low like a puppet. Her lips curled into a stiff smile. “Yvonne, who were my parents? How could I have brought disaster upon them?”
The long and dark corridor on the second floor echoed with her sarcastic question.
Yvonne was taken aback by Elizabeth’s unexpected retort, her expression darkening. “Your mom seduced her brother–in–law, ring a bell? Want me to air her dirty laundry?”
Meanwhile, inside the room, Franklin was getting his injuries taken care of. While enduring the pain, he overheard their argument outside. Clenching his teeth, he asked, “What’s all the fuss about now?”
It was hard to make out, just a few words here and there.
As the caretaker moved to check, Elizabeth’s choked laughter and bitter voice cut through first. “Yvonne, you couldn’t keep your husband’s heart, so you blame me?”
In the light of the overhead lamps, Yvonne’s initially shocked expression turned into a sudden sneer. “And how about you? Can you keep your husband’s heart?”
She was referring to Franklin.
Elizabeth replied calmly, “I can’t. That’s why I’m divorcing him.”
Everyone heard what Elizabeth said.
Ignoring the pain, Franklin pressed his brow. Then he raised his chin to the door’s

The needle slid along the vein, and a vial of medication was administered. Pressing on Franklin’s wound, Jerry said, “Hold this for a moment, I’m on my way.”
But it was too late.
As he opened the door, he heard Yvonne instru.. her servant using harsh words, “Call the Taylor family and ask them to take this wild woman back. Our Jones family can’t tolerate such an uncultured woman!”
Lawson was the only person in the Taylor family who handled their family affairs, so he would be the one to answer this call.
At eleven at night, the coquettish whimpers and the crisp sound of clinking glasses wove a dizzying tapestry of the world’s sounds.
The smoke and alcohol mingled to form a murky scent. Amid the vibrant lights, a slender hand with crimson nails playfully circled around a man’s Adam’s apple. Little tickles teased Lawson. He grasped the woman’s hand, placed a kiss on it, and complimented her, “Smells delightful.”
The woman blushed and moved to kiss Lawson’s lips, but unfortunately, a phone call interrupted. Lawson reached for it, but she held onto him. He said patiently, “Sweetie, I have to answer the call.”
“Is it another girlfriend of yours calling?”
The woman was showing hints of jealousy, but Lawson smoothly replied, “There’s only you. Where would another lover come from? Stop fussing.”
He always fibbed effortlessly. Everyone in Yaville knew that Lawson had a reputation as a ladies‘ man who never turned anyone away, a stark contrast to his brother–in–law, who was notoriously choosy with women.
Yet, the charm of these two men was quite different.
Finding a quiet corner, Lawson answered the call and lit a cigarette, grumbling, “Who is this?”
Yvonne wouldn’t stoop to speak with a playboy like Lawson, so she let her servant tell Lawson what happened.
Lawson took a drag from his cigarette, exhaling slowly. “Got it. I’ll go get Elizabeth
now.’
