Chapter 25
Sofia’s Point of View
“He is so good with the pups, isn’t he?” Tammie asked. It was still weird to me that they called the kids pups.
I had been watching Ethan play with the kids for a while, and I couldn’t help the smile that came on my face.
“Yes, he is,” I replied
“I am so happy he came. I have been trying to get him to come and see the pups, but he is always busy. Thank you,” Tammie said, and I looked at her.
“For what?” I asked, confused about why she was thanking me.
“The only reason he came is because he knew you would be here. He really cares about you,” Tammie said. I didn’t know what to say, so I just stayed quiet. “Look, I know you are having trouble believing my son when he told you that you were his mate. I know he hasn’t been the best to you. He made some bad, very bad choices. I know this might be too much to ask of you, but I was hoping you would give him a chance,” Tammie said. We stayed silent for a moment. I looked away from Tammie and watched as Ethan played with the kids, and I sighed.
“I don’t know. I am worried that he only cares because of the mate bond. I

don’t want him to only want me because of that. I want him to want me for me,” I whispered. I was being truthful. I had loved Ethan for a long time, and it hurt that he hated me. Every time I saw him with Jane, it hurt.
“He has always had feelings for you, Sofia. I could tell by the way he looked at you. I am his mother, and I see these things,” Tammie said. I wanted to believe her, but how could I after the way he had been acting toward me? “Just give him a chance to prove himself to you, please. I know you don’t see it now, but he needs you more than anything,” Tammie said. I remembered Ella telling me that an Alpha needed their Mate more than any other werewolf and that they become weaker without them. I didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.
“I will give him a chance,” I said, and Tamme started to smile.
“Thanks, Sofia,” Tammie said and I smiled at her
“You are so pretty,” one of the little girls, Angel, said as I painted her fingernails.
“Thank you, Sweety, and you are very pretty as well,” I said
“I don’t know about that,” Angel said with a frown
“Why do you say that?” I asked
“Because everyone is always talking about me. They tell me that I am ugly. Everyone hates me because my mom was a human, and I will never have a wolf. They say that I am a weak, wolfless freak. Everyone hates me here,” Angel said, causing me to frown.

“Well, that is not true. You know, I don’t have a wolf either. I am at human,” I said
“But you are going to be the Luna Queen one day,” Angel said. I still couldn’t believe I was supposed to be the queen of werewolves. I didn’t know how a human was supposed to do that, but I wasn’t going to show. Angel how worried it made me. I wanted her to know that she wasn’t
weak.
“This is so cool. That means I am not as weak as everyone says I am. If you can be mated to the future Alpha King and you are a human, then I could be mated to an alpha one day,” Angel said, and I smiled at her.
“Exactly, so don’t let anyone make you feel bad, and remember that just because you are a human doesn’t make you weak,” I said
“Okay, Luna,” Angel said, and she hugged me.
“Angel, what are you doing? You can’t just hug the future Luna queen like that,” one of the ladies who worked at the orphanage said. I didn’t like the way she was looking at Angel.
“I am sorry, Ms. Mason,” Angel said with her head down
“It is alright. I let her hug me, so there is no reason for anyone to be upset,” I said as I watched Ms. Mason. I didn’t like the way she was looking at Angel. She quickly looked at me and smiled.
“Oh, I didn’t know you were okay with her hugging you, Luna,” Ms. Mason said
“Well, I am,” I replied.
“Hey, Is everything okay?” I heard Ethan say as he and Tammie walked
over to where I was.
“Yes, there was just a little misunderstanding with one of the pups. She was hugging our future Luna queen, and I didn’t know she was okay with it. I will go now. Angel, let’s go. It’s time for you and the other pups to get ready for dinner,” Ms. Mason said, and they walked away.
We said goodbye to all of the workers at the orphanage, and we walked to the car.
“Why don’t the two of you go and grab dinner? I am going back to the castle. Your dad is waiting for me,” Tammie said.
“That sounds good. What do you think, Sof,” Ehtan asked as he looked at
- me.
“Sure,” I replied and Ethan started to smile. I told Tamme I would give him a chance and I meant it.
