Chapter 37
Layla grinned. “Of course! Commander Spark needs money to pay for his electricity. If he doesn’t pay the bill, he can’t shine. If he can’t shine, he can’t fight the monsters. If he can’t fight the monsters, you won’t like him. And if you don’t like him, he won’t have fans. No fans means no money. Understand?”
Dylan looked confused but didn’t dare shake his head. He didn’t really get it.
Layla chuckled, “It’s okay. You’ll get it eventually. I need to go handle something now.”
She went upstairs to change clothes, handled Dylan over to the maid, and took a random car from the garage.
With the address on her phone, she drove to the film set.
When Layla showed up on the set, the crew was busy setting things up. They glanced at her but thought she was just another celebrity, so they didn’t ask her to
leave.
Layla jingled her car keys and walked down the hallway, then stood by the window to watch the crew working outside while the filming gear was put aside.
Meanwhile, the crew had somehow brought in a huge watermelon.
“Be careful with those,” an employee wamed. “They’re props for the shoot later.”
Layla turned around when someone asked, “Excuse me, who are
are you?
Layla replied casually, “I’m just looking around. You can keep worlding.”
The person nodded and went back to their job.
Layla realized that looking good meant she could blend in and move around without anyone stopping her. She felt a bit pleased with herself.
As Layla wandered around the set, she noticed a storage room. Normally, she wouldn’t care about such places, but today, her attention was focused on someone specific.
That someone was Dorothy Yard, Regina’s rival.
Layla’s eyes lit up. This was exactly the person she needed to find.
She thought if she could cause some trouble for Regina and help Dorothy get ahead, it would be perfect.
Just as Layla was about to go over and talk to Dorothy, she saw Dorothy pulling a woman into a comer. “Is everything ready?” Dorothy asked.
The woman replied, “Don’t worry, Dorothy. The rigging has been replaced. There won’t be any issues.”
Dorothy looked around and asked, “Are you sure there’s no trace lett?”
The woman assured her, “It something happens to Regina, it’ll be blamed on the film crew for not replacing the rigging in time. And you were lucky to avoid any harm. Don’t worry. No one will find out it was you.”
Layla leaned against the wall with her arms crossed, a playful smile on her face. She was starting to think the entertainment industry was a lot more exciting than she expected
No wonder Regina thought the world was so harsh. It was because her colleagues were just as tricky.
Layla was thrilled to overhear a real–life scheme right in front of her. It was way more interesting than any TV show.
She walked outside and sat on a bench. No one bothered her as she watched the busy scene around her.
Soon, the director showed up, and Regina and Dorothy came out. Their hair looked perfectly styled, and they walked like they owned the place.
When Regina saw Layla, she made a face and ignored her.
If Layla tried to mess up Regina’s endorsement deal, Regina would just let the sponsor handle it. She’d get a little extra money and slap one less job–not a big deal
An assistant nearby asked, “Which one will get the close–up shot, Regina or Dorothy?”
Dorothy implied, “It should be Ms. Regina She’s the Best Actress, so her close–up will make the ad look better. I’m just a small–time actress, so I don’t need it ”
Watching from the side, Layla bit her thumb and found the situation amusing.
Beginu then said. “That makes sense Let’s do my close up first. I’ll show you how it’s done. Doorly’s smile faded a hill. She had meant to be humble, but Begins wasn’t giving her any breaks.
