Chapter 46
Benson quickly stood up and gave deference when Jonah came over.
Jonah, on the other hand, was very polite to Layla “Layla, since it’s your first day, if you need to leave early, you can.”
Layla shook her head. “No, 1’ll stay until everyone else is finished,”
After Jonah left, Benson leaned in and asked quietly, “Did you get this job through some connection?”
She looked at him and said, Do you know why you’re not closing any deals?“”
Benson looked puzzled and shook his head.
“It’s because you’re a little too dense,” she replied.
While most people were curious about Layla but kept it to themselves, Benson asked her directly.
That evening, Stephen came home from work. He saw Layla’s fuzzy slippers still by the door and asked, “Is Layla still not back?”
The maid nodded.
He quickly called the sales office manager. “Hey, Is Layla still there?”
Jonah looked over at Layla, who was sitting on the couch chatting with Benson “Yes, Mr. Yates. Ms. Murray is still here.”
Stephen frowned. “When does she get off work?”
Jonah, noticing Stephen’s annoyance, said, “I told her she could leave whenever she wanted, but she wanted to stay until 9:00 prn with everyone else
After a moment of silence, Stephen replied, “I’ll go pick her up.”
Stephen hadn’t even taken off his shoes. He grabbed his car keys and left the house to get Layla.
Back at the sales office, Layla laughed and said, “Benson, you should think about changing jobs. This one just isn’t right for you.
He shot back, “You’re not so great at this job either. You’ll see

Benson explained, “The way you stormed in here today so fiery and blunt–doesn’t make you very approachable. Customers won’t like that.”
Layla laughed until she caught her breath. Then, loolang sharply at Benson, she asked, “You seem to know a lot about people. So, why can’t you sell any houses? Are you just slacking off on purpose?”
Benson quickly raised his hand and joked, “If I’m slacking, may lightning strike me!”
She rolled her eyes and said, “Oh, come on. Even bad people don’t get struck by lightning, Zeus has better things to do than deal with you.‘
He scooted his chair clo lady, but then..”
to Layla and whispered, “My mentor is Tittany. She won’t let me show clients around. On my second day, I almost closed a deal with a
This scene didn’t escape Stephen, who had just arrived to pick up his wife. Through the bright office windows, he saw the two of them talking closely as his car idled in the parking lot.
Stephen was about to pull out his phone to call Layla, but when he looked up, he saw them sitting together, deep in conversation. His gaze darkened as he stared at the pair inside. He took out his phone and dialed Layla..
Layla was surprised. “Really? People can actually steal clients here?”
Benson nodded. “Definitely. Everyone tries to steal clients on the down–low.”
Just then, Layla’s phone rang. She looked at the screen–it was Stephen calling. She decided to ignore it because she wanted to hear more gossip. “So, what luppened after the client got stolen?”
He leaned in. “Tiffany once took a client from Sally. Sally then messed up one of Tiffany’s deals in return.”
Leyla was fascinated and enjoying the office drama. She had someone right next to her, ready to share all the juicy details.
so, who’s better between them?” Layla asked.
Benson thought for a moment, “Probably Sally. She’ll leave you alone if you don’t bother her, but if you do, she’ll make sure you regret it.”
