Chapter 54
Then, Stephen said lightly, “Lie down and sleep.”
Not long after, he felt a huff from the woman by his side. When he saw Layla’s back facing him, he smiled
In the middle of the night, Layla rolled over and snaggled into Stephen’s embrace.
He watched silently as she slept soundly and leaned into him unconsciously. He stretched his arm open and drew her in closer.
When Layla realized that she was snuggled up in Stephen’s embrace the following day, she jolted awake as her heart sped up.
Stephen was awakened by her sudden movements. He looked at his watch to tell the time. Then, he lifted the covers and got out of bed.
“You’re going to be late,” he reminded her when he emerged from the closet.

Immediately, Layla took a quick shower and headed to change. Seeing the neat rows ofties in the closet, she paused and stole one of his favorite ties before heading out.
Stephen was in the living room and said, “Take your breakfast before you leave.”
However, Layla couldn’t make it in time if she did. She hurriedly put on her shoes and pulled Dylan along to the car.
After she sent Dylan to the hospital, she sped to the sales department. Fortunately, she was able to join their briefing in time.
y did you arrive so late today? You barely made it in time,” Benson said.

Layla’s makeup didn’t look as good as it was yesterday. “I was driving the child and didn’t even get to eat.”
Benson was shocked. “My God! You have a child?”
“Who said the child’s mine?” Layla rolled her eyes at Benson and saw the same ugly tie he wore yesterday.
She opened her bag and took out the expensive tie she stole from Stephen before handing it to him. “Put this on later.”
“Wow. What a beautiful tie! How much is it?” Benson eyed the tie with much delight as he felt its material,
She replied, “It amounts to half a year of your salary,”
He swore yet again and said, “I’m not worthy enough to put it on.”
“Put it on! You better keep that ugly the of yours away.” Layla had some sort of understanding toward their potential clients.
They were all wealthy figures and went about the world with multiple experiences, so Layla and Benson had to do their jobs to dress well.
Otherwise, they might not end up closing any deals with how laid–back they were dressed.
After the briefing, Benson changed into the new tie under Layla’s supervision.
He asked, “Layla, is this your husband’s tie?”
“Just wear it. Why’d you have to ask so many questions?” Layla replied haughtily.
It made Benson even more curious, and he asked, “Layla, what does your family do? How about your husband? You’re so rich…”
“Just shut up. If I hear you calling him my husband once more, I’ll make sure you get blacklisted from the Murray Group,” Layla threatened. Immediately, Benson shut his mouth and stopped talking.
While she looked at him, she was suddenly reminded of why she had to share a bed with Stephen.
The more she thought about it, the more frustrated she felt. So much so it nearly made her think of changing her partner.
Yet, it was all her fault. She was the one who insisted on grouping with Benson, so she couldn’t just change her partner today.
Just why did she have to provoke Stephen when he came over yesterday?
“What are you thinking about?” Benson asked.
“Something imitating.” Layla sighed.
