Chapter 56
Layla supported her chin and smiled slightly. “But I think it’s Stephen who’s not worthy of Ms. Murray instead,
“Didn’t you see the news online that Stephen already has full control of the Murray Group? He married Ms. Murray just to get the company Mr. Murray Senior worked so hard on
“It’s because he had no choice. That’s why he married his granddaughter off to Stephen to neutralize his authority. You know what Stephen’s background is? He’s just an orphan adopted and raised by Mr. Murray Senior.
“Clearly, he had promised not to touch on business, but he’s not only ungrateful but selfish. He even bit the hand that fed him by taking over the whole of the Murray Group.
“I’ll tell y
I you this, Stephen’s display of affection is fake. He only put it on for hopeless romantics lile you to see and think that he’s a nice guy.
“But he’s not like that in real life. He’d deduct his wife’s money, take advantage of her, and bully her when Mr. Murray Senior isn’t around.”
“Who told you? There’s no way! My idol is an extremely awesome and upstanding guy, He’s known Ms. Marray ever since he was young, and he definitely wouldn’t take advantage of her,” Benson said.
“That’s just a rumor. You’ve been fooled.”
Then, he said, “Well, I’ll let you in on a rumor, too. I heard that Ms. Murray went abroad for plastic surgery and got into trouble big time.
“Her personal life is a mess as well.. Can you believe it?
Layla’s face paled when she heard that. “Where’d you hear that from?”
Benson took out his phone and searched for a public account. Then, he searched for the words “Princess Layla“, and all the information about Layla popped out.
“You see? It’s all her scandals.”
Layla took Benson’s phone over and took a good look through the account that contained all of her “scandals“. The slanders were a mix of the truth and lies to make it seem believable.
Jonah was in the office and couldn’t help but report Layla’s activities to Stephen. “Mr. Yates, Ms. Murray is chatting with Benson again, and they chatted for a long
while.”
Even Jonah didn’t dare to manage them anymore.
The other end of the call was silent, but soon enough, he heard Stephen say, “Put the meeting on hold.”
Then, Stephen stood up and walked out.
Jonah jolted and realized that he had interrupted Stephen’s meeting.
A while later, Stephen spoke with a chill, underlining his tone, “Wam Layla that she’d be fired along with the other guy if they keep chatting during work hours.”
If Stephen had threatened to fire Layla alone, she would immediately hand in a resignation letter herself, so he hit her weakest spot,
There was no way she’d drag Benson down the muddy waters with her.
Jonah cowered. He had heard of the “wonderful rumors involving Layla. Word had it that she fired the person who failed to properly attend to her needs. This particular incident made the whole of Somersia so scared that no one ever tried to apply for a job in that store again. Even the employee’s family suffered repercussions.
He also heard that Layla hit the guard with her car just because he raised
voice at her when she was parking, and she didn’t like it
However, that incident didn’t make it to the news because it was suppressed by the Murray family.
It wasn’t just limited to two of these incidents. It was just that the Murray family had suppressed the news to protect Layla.
She was domineering, and no one dared to offend her, so Jonah naturally had no wish to attempt offending her. He just wanted to live a peaceful life.
“Mr. Yates, why don’t you… have Ms. Murray work by your side at the Murray Group?” Jonah suggested.
“Tell her!” Stephen commanded.
“Olay. Right away! Jonah hung up the call and gathered all his courage in the office before he approached Layla and Benson.
