Chapter 57
Benson nervously stood up at once.
“Layla, Benson, you should be working during office hours, not playing on your phones. If If you keep doing that, we’ll have to take action,” Jonah said, trying his best not to sound intimidating.
Layla stood up as well. “Got it, sir. Sorry about that.
He was shocked. “It’s fine, Layla. I just.. I just wanted to remind you about it.”
After that, he tumed and ran off quickly.
Benson scratched his head. “Haven’t you realized that he’s really scared of you?”
Layla watched as Jonah ran helter–skelter. “Maybe he’s been fed too much fake gossip as well”
“What?”
“Get back to work,” she said
After Jonah left, he observed Layla for a while. When someone came, she and Benson went to greet them together. When no one was in, they went to Sally.
Layla could be serious about her work if she wanted to.
“Maybe Layla is nice because 1 was good to her,” Jonah thought, but he would never know the real answer.
“Layla, I think that the issue with you and Benson is that you’re both still inexperienced,” he explained. “You’re new, after all. You haven’t grasped a lot of the key concepts yet. For example, when a customer comes in and leaves, you must remember to exchange numbers with them and keep in touch with them. You have to know why they’re looking for a house and what features they’d like it to have. On top of that, mask your behavior according to their personalities.”
Benson was listening intently. He remembered the crucial points.
At around 6:00 pm, Dylan called. “Aunt Layla, when are you coming to pick me up?”
“I haven’t gotten off work yet. You can stay with your mommy in the hospital until 1 pick you up.”
“Okay.”
Dylan was a disciplined child, when Layla finally got off work and rushed to the hospital, Dylan had already fallen asleep next to Lucy.
Lucy was surprised to see Layla’s uniform and badge.
“I didn’t think you’d actually work there, Layla” Lucy thought that someone as proud as Layla would never do something in sales
“How are you holding up? Layla asked.
“I’m much better. I’ll be discharged on Friday,” Lucy said with a smile. “I’m really thankful for you and Stephen, Layla.”
“Don’t thank me. Thank him instead. I didn’t do anything.”
“Stephen is busy with work. You’re usually the one who takes care of Dylan,” Lucy said. She had a lot of things to say to Layla
Since she wanted to help Layla’s relationship with Stephen, she continued, “Layla, no matter what the internet says about Stephen, you have to feel his concem for you. Sometimes, he punishes you when you’re hot–tempered, but it’s all for your own good.
“That’s enough, Locy. I have my judgments.” Layla’s relationship with Stephen had been frigid for several years. Another person’s two cents wasn’t going to make everything better.
Layla went up to the bed, wanting to wake Dylan up. However, she clumsily attempted to carry him up when she saw him curled up.
“Don’t carry him. He’s pretty heavy. Your skinny arms wouldn’t be able to lift him,” Lacy said. At first, Layla was going to stop, but then Dylan woke up anyway.
