Chapter 59
Stephen watched as she ran away like a little rabbit. She wanted to run faster, but because she didn’t want the towel to open up, she had to take little steps.
Stephen smiled, his gaze turning affectionate.
Not long after, Layla walked out in a night dress. She rolled her eyes at him and climbed into bed with a reddened face.
He took off his coat and put his pillow back next to hers. “If I come out of the shower and find that it’s been moved, I’ll confiscate your car, too.”
“This is my house, Stephen Yates. How dare you do that?” Layla’s position in her house was disappearing. Back when her grandfather was home, Stephen would have to consider punishing her.
However, now that her grandfather wasn’t around, Stephen was unleashing his true colors. If her grandfather eventually went away, she would have no say in her own home at all.
Stephen went to the bathroom. Soon, the sounds of water could be heard.
Layla grabbed his pillow and prepared to launch it off the bed, but she controlled herself. Stephen was a man of his word. He would confiscate her car if he said so. If she lost her mode of transport, she wouldn’t even have the freedom to go out.
“Go to hell.” Layla rammed her fists into Stephen’s pillow.
When Stephen came out, he saw his pillow still on the bed. It was a little roughed up in the middle, however. He smiled and walked over, fluffing it before lifting the blanket to slip into bed.
Layla had her back turned to Stephen. She was looking at the website that Benson had shown her and reading gossip articles about her. She paid Stephen no attention at all..
The bed creaked slightly. Layla kept on reading, ignoring Stephen
Stephen looked at her thin frame and the silk robe covering her shoulders. She was wearing a nightgown with straps under the robe. She didn’t like wearing the robe but had to because a man was in her bedroom now.
He saw how engrossed she was in her phone. “What are you loolding at?”
“My scandals.”
Stephen turned over, drawing near her. He looked at her screen. “What scandals?”
Layla turned, coming face to face with Stephen’s chest. “What are you doing so near me? Don’t you have enough room on your side?
Stephen looked at her, then took the phone away from her hands. He leaned against the headrest and began reading.
She got up from her bed and did the same as Stephen, leaning against the headrest. She curled her legs and subconsciously leaned toward him, looking at the phone
with him.
Stephen scrolled around, realizing that there were a lot of these articles. He handed the phone back to Layla and took out his own. He called the company’s legal department.
The department manager was surprised. “Are you looking for me, Mr. Yates?”
Stephen tumed, pinching Layla’s wrist slightly, drawing her near. “Lookup Star Scandals.”
Layla watched his movements, guessing his intentions. She said softly, “It’s the official website.”
He repeated what she said. “It’s a website. Lookup all of the fake news regarding Layla, collect the evidence, and report everything.”
Layla stared at Stephen, who was clearing up her name with no hesitation. She was moved. “You have to type in ‘Princess Layla‘ for my articles to show up,” she sald.
Despite her soft voice, the manager could hear her clearly because she was so close to the phone.
Not long after, the manager completed all of the steps. He saw all the gossip about Layla. He hesitated, then asked, “Mr. Yates, are all these articles fake news?
