Chapter 64
While everyone else ordered takeout for dinner, Benson and Layla sent off their last customer. They sat on the couch and began sorting through the agreements that they’d signed today. “How many agreements did you sign off, Benson?”
Benson recollected his memories of the day and answered, “Including this morning’s customer, three in total. What about you?”
Layla spread out the documents in her hands and put them on the table. She said, shocked, “Four.”
“Fuck!” Benson exclaimed.
Their colleagues looked up from their food and stared at them.
Layla smiled happily. “These are just the walk–in customers. What about the ones that we’ve attended to before? Have they signed the agreements?
Benson shook his head. “An elderly man wanted to buy his son a house as a wedding gift. He said he wanted to discuss it with his son after going home, so he didn’t sign the agreement.
“But he did video call his wife, and she was really happy with it. I think they won’t be a problem. We can place our focus on his son the next time we meet.
Layla nodded. “It’s a huge deal for an old man. If we nag him too much, it’ll annoy him. Since it’s not night time yet, we might still get more customers.
Benson stared at the documents on the table, feeling relieved. “For the first time ever, I feel like I can actually do this job.”
He took out his phone and prepared to treat Layla to some food.
Layla refused, “I’m not hungry. You can eat by yourself. I’ll get myself some bread from the store outside,”
When she came back, she noticed that their colleagues were looking at them a little differently now. Some of them looked at her with praise, while others looked at her with disdain.
Some of them weren’t that familiar with her and were talking about her. Layla had a vague idea of what this small group of people were thinking.
As expected, Sally walled up to her and said, “Congrats, Layla As of now, you and Benson have bagged the most deals today.”
“Thank you.” Layla sat on the couch and began devouring the bread.
Soon after, Benson’s takeout arrived. “The gossip websites are all down. Now, I don’t even get a place to sit. I don’t feel hungry anymore.”
Layla looked at him with disdain. “What are you always looking at those websites for? It’s such a girly thing to do,”
“Men are curious too. Besides, I’m not a man. I’m a boy. I’m one year younger than y
Layla looked at his tood. “Oh, just eat up and leave me alone.”
you,”
The bread wasn’t really the best. Layla took a few bites of it and then pushed it aside
The two of them had ended up being the best salespeople of the day because of their luck. At night, Jonah congratulated them and then asked, “Is there anything that you’d like to share with us, Layla and Berson?
Benson was excited and wanted to speak, but Layla grabbed his wrist and smiled. “No, Jonah.”
“Alright. Keep up the good work, everyone. You’re all dismissed.”
Before everyone leht, Benson told Layla, “It’s so rare for me to be the best salesperson of the day. I really wanted to say something. Why didn’t you let me?” Layla lightly punched him in the belly and replied, “You should learn to be humble, you brat.”
