Chapter 69
No explanations were needed among colleagues. Everyone knew what kind of person Tiffany was. Layla, in particular, wasn’t buying Tiffany’s fake politeness.
She glanced at the B–type four–bedroom house that Tiffany had recommended to the elderly couple, then smiled at them before turning to Tiffany. “It’s alright. You haven’t closed the deal yet, have you?”
Tiffany felt the pressure to keep up her professional façade in front of the clients and forced a tight smile. “We’re just one step away from finalizing it.”
Layla was unyielding. “But I’m here now.”
Benson watched in shock.
Was Layla really trying to steal the deal from Tiffany? She had said that she was just going there to say hello. Was this her idea of a greeting?
Realizing Layla’s intent, Tiffany’s smile dropped. Her eyes narrowed with a sharp edge as she said, “Layla, youth isn’t an asset that lasts forever. There’s always someone ready to take your place. In this business, you’d better leam to respect your seniors.”
Layla sneered.
Was Tiffany really convinced that her current position was solely due to favors from Aetheris Group’s higher–ups? Was that why Tiffany felt emboldened to act so amrogantly?
“I do want to show respect, but it also depends on whether those people deserve it. I respect Sally, but for others to get my respect, they should first leam to be decent.”
“Are you insulting me?” Tiffany shouted. Her voice was shrill and piercing.
Layla shot back, “Did I name you? It seems you’re quite aware that you took it personally.”
The elderly couple grew anxious “Um. Could. Could you please stop arguing? We need to think this over.”
A team member from Tiffany’s group burried over to calm the elderly couple and push for the deal.
When Sally saw the commotion, she quickly sent her apprentice to fetch the manager for mediation
Benson stepped into defuse the situation as well. “Layla, don’t scare the elderly gentleman. The goal is to find the right house for him.”
Soon, the manager, Jonah Parker, came out of his office. He had been briefed on the situation as he walked over.
Despite the cool air conditioning, Jonah was sweating. His heart was racing, and he was unsure how to handle the escalating situation.
When Jonah arrived, he cast a nervous glance at Layla but quickly regained his composure. “The person who was assigned to these clients today should continue working with them and fulfill their needs.”
As Jonah’s decision was announced, Tiffany’s face lit up with smug satisfaction. She relished th
the fact that Layla had not received Jonah’s support.
Layla, however, remained unfazed. She turned to the elderly couple and said, ” situation.”

Layla gave Tiffany a sadelong glance before turning on her heel to leave. Just as she was about to wallcout, Jonah called after her. “Layla, please come to my office.” Layla then followed Jonah into his office,
Before she left, she signaled to Benson to watch over the elderly couple and their decision.
Benson, unsure if he had understood her hint correctly, decided to stay and observe. Inside the office, Layla asked bluntly, “Are you aware that Tiffany has been stealing our deals?”
