Chapter 98
“Why don’t you call your new backer? Maybe when we see him, we’ll be so scared that we’ll just let you go,” Austin suggested with a smirk
Aria glanced at the wine. It wasn’t like she hadn’t drunk before, so she was about to reach for it when Sean pulled the bottle back.
He took a cigarette butt from the ashtray and dropped it into the bottle. He then handed it to Aria after swirling it around. “This is to thank you for telling us where Layla is.”
Furious, Layla snatched the bottle and smashed it to the ground.
“Ingrates,” she spat out before storming off the terrace. The group didn’t stop her further. They had made their point and were satisfied.
Once Aria was gone, Sean and Austin sat on the nearby couch with their expressions serious. “Kendal, where’s Lumina Company?
Kendal got up. “Let’s go find Layla,”
Meanwhile, Layla was in the sales office with Benson, organizing contracts when a group of seven or eight people walked through the door. They were men and women all dressed in expensive clothes.
The receptionist quickly approached them. “Are you all together? What kind of property are you interested in?”
Ignoring the receptionist, they scanned the room until they spotted a woman sitting by the floor–to–ceiling windows. They locked on her and walked straight to her without besitation.
Layla, who had just handed a contract to Benson, looked up at the sound of her name. “Kendal, Skyler… what are you all doing here?”
to find you.
“We came to
Five minutes later, Layla’s friends filled a comer of the sales office.
“…That’s the situation. I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t think it was necessary,” Layla explained to the group.
“How could it not be necessary? You should’ve told us earlier! We could each buy a building, and you’d be the sales champion in no time,” Kendal scolded her. Layla asked, “Aren’t you embarrassed by me?”
skyler said, “Are we even sisters? After all these years, do you think we’re the kind of people who would judge someone based on their situation?”
The rest of the group nodded in agreement. “Exactly, and even if that’s something to be embarrassed about, we wouldn’t care as long as Mr. Yates doesn’t.”
Layla finally smiled seeing all her friends gathered around her. “I finally feel relieved.”
She had been feeling increasingly andous as she watched their daily discussions in the group chat, wondering when the Murray Group would be back in her hands. She had been too embarrassed to explain her job to them,
“How did you find out I was here? Layla asked, focusing on the key point.
Kendal replied, “Aria’s back. We were talking about how you’ve been MIA for so long, and she told us.”
Speaking of Aria, Kendal pointed at Sean and said, “You should buy two buildings as punishment for not seeing through that little bitch and trying to befriend her.” “Fine, fine, I’ll do it. I’ll buy two buildings. Sean raised his hand in surrender.
So, it was her.” Layla scoffed. “Keep an eye on her for me. I want to know who her new backer is.”
“Don’t worry. Even if you hadn’t asked, we’d still do it for you.”
After chatting for a while, the group stood up and looked around the busy sales office. They noticed the staff members using laser pointers to explain the model houses to the potential buyers.
“Layla, is this what you do every day?”
