After Nadine had settled down and visiting hours came to a close, Natalie was shooed out of the ward by the doctor.
It was after ten by the time she stepped out of the hospital,
Meanwhile, Martin had made it to where Natalie lived. Spotting the lights on the third floor, he felt sure Natalie was there.
Soon enough, he saw two figures through the curtain, locked in an intimate embrace. The woman seemed to match Natalie’s build.
Is she seriously messing around with someone else just two days into our marriage? Am I a joke to her? he tumed internally
He pressed the horn over and over, but the individuals above paid no heed. This, however, only served to irritate the neighbors further.
“What’s with the honking at this hour! Have you lost your mind?” one of them shouted.
Overcome with fury, Martin slammed his fist against the steering wheel, feeling a wave of revulsion
Meanwhile, Natalie had returned to the Scott residence before Martin. Seeing her, Charlotte said sarcastically. “Looks like the honeymoon phase is over already, staying out late so soon after getting married. Poor Mr. Scott, saddled with such a terrible wife.”
“Where is he?” Natalie asked
“How should I know? But Mr. Timothy Scott was here waiting for you Couldn’t you have at least called to say you wouldn’t make it for dinner?” Charlotte retorted.
I’ll make sure to do so next time,” Natalie replied, a sense of guilt washing over her. She meant to explain to Timothy, but Charlotte said he already went to sleep, so Natalie headed back to her own room.
ser had she taken a seat than she heard Martin forcefully push the door open. Natalie stood up swiftly. “You’re back”
No sooner
Caught off guard by her presence, Martin demanded, “Where have you been?”
“I was at the hospital, my grandmother is ill,” she explained.
*So, what next? You’ll tell me your grandmother needs surgery and you require a hefty sum of money?” Martin aid with a scoff
“What are you implying?” Natalie’s temper flared when she noticed the scorn in Martin’s gaze. “If you doubt me, feel free to verify it at the hospital”
Martin, biting back his anger, pressed on. “You claim to have been at the hospital. Then who was the woman at your place!”
“You went to my place?” Natalie’s confusion was evident. “Samuel and Hailey have moved out, so who could it be she pondered.
Martin, mistaking her shock for guilt, was convinced she was being deceitful. “Had I not gone, I wouldn’t have uncovered the multitude of secrets you’re keeping from me,” he asserted,
“What secrets am I supposedly keeping from you?” she challenged.
Martin’s laugh was one of sheer frustration at Natalie’s defiance. “You have a boyfriend, yet you feign bring single to marry met Do you find it amusing to make a fool out of me, Natalie!”
In the dimly lit room, Martin’s presence was menacing. Natalie, unaware of what Martin had discovered at her house, found his accusations
baseless.
“What are you trying to say? Yes, I had a boyfriend, but we ended things before our marriage. You didn’t stipulate that I couldn’t have

Natalie was under the impression that Martin was stirring up trouble because he deemed 100 thousand dollars excessively.
“I’m not saying you can’t have a history with someone. What’s unacceptable is being unfaithful.” Despite his efforts to remain composed, Martin found it increasingly difficult to suppress his anger.

evidence? Since we ended things, I haven’t been in touch with him,” she countered.
“Absolutely. If you’re skeptical, feel free to verify with him, Natalie retorted, her frustration mounting. “Frankly, the reason I married you was for money. If you’re having second thoughts, we can get a divorce tomorrow. However, I can’t reimburse you right away since I’ve used the money for my grandmother’s surgery deposit. Rest assured, I’ll pay you back eventually. I won’t keep a single dime.” With that declaration, Natalie grabbed her suitcase and headed for the door.
Yet, before she could leave, Martin seized her suitcase. “Divorcing merely a day after our wedding is utterly disgraceful,” Martin remarked, regaining some composure. He pondered. If that woman was Natalie, she wouldn’t have made it home before me. This reflection led him to reconsider. possibly having misjudged Natalie.
Consequently, he hoisted the bed and tucked Natalie’s suitcase in the farthest corner before lowering the bed back into place.
Is he afraid that I’ll run away! Natalie speculated. She had tried and failed to lift the bed the day before. How does he summon such strength!
“I’m starved. Make something for me to eat, Martin commanded, settling on the couch and booting up for a meal.
‘How am I supposed to find food at this hour? Natalie thought.
She considered retorting, but then her stomach growled, revealing her own hunger.
Thus, she headed to the kitchen and prepared two servings of spaghetti bolognese.
his laptop, intending to work as he waited
By the time she returned with the food, Martin had dozed off on the couch. Despite being asleep, his expression was one of weariness, his brows furrowed and his lips tightly pressed together.
“How is it possible for someone to be this attractive? His eyelashes, long and slightly curled, are something I could only wish for. Some people are just naturally gifted, she mused.
Curiosity got the better of Natalie, and she leaned in closer to Martin, wanting to examine his eyelashes more closely.
Out of nowhere, Martin’s eyes snapped open. “Got a good look?”
“Ah!” Natalie jumped back, startled, and ended up in Martin’s embrace. His fragrance enveloped her immediately.
She quickly stood up, her words jumbling together as she said, “T–The spaghetti’s ready.”
Seeing Natalie so startled brought a smile to Martin’s face.
Natalie had previously thought he was incapable of smiling, yet something was appealing about his rare grin.
Martin took a seat across from Natalie, staring at the spaghetti before him.
“Who wrong! Aren’t you hungry? Natalic probed
“I’m not fond of tomatoes. Despite his reluctance, he gave it a taste before picking the Tomatoes out.
Natalie, who despised fussy eaters, snapped, “Tomatoes are nutritious and packed with vitamins. They’re better for you than any medicine.”
“I prefer medicine, Martin retorted.
His unreasonable attitude made Natalie roll her eyes. Yet, she couldn’t help but notice the sophistication in how Martin ate his spaghetti. Natalie had always considered her table man
manners to be impeccable, yet she felt outmatched.
Moreover, Martin managed to pick up the exact amount of spaghetti every time. How does he manage that? Does being a programmer mean you apply the same precision to eating as to coding?” she pondered.
“Ever h heard of Foronix Group?” Natalie thought surely Martin, being in programming, would be familiar with such a well–known company. At the mention of the Company
