Chapter 9
“Samuell” Natalie thought it must be him, or he would not avoid her. She saw the elevator stop on the first floor and rushed downstairs. However, Samuel had long gone.
At this time, the hospital called to inform Natalie that Nadine’s surgery had been postponed indefinitely until she paid the surgery fee. She then hurned to the hospital.
Once she left Foronix Tower, Martin called Harper. When he knew that Natalie was looking for Samuel, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief and informed Harper that she was fired.
Then, he called the HR department and instructed them to reduce Samuel’s salary to 2,000 dollars a month and transfer him to the surveillance room as a network administrator.
Meanwhile, Samuel was already frustrated enough her knowing that his salary had been reduced to 4,000 dollars. Thus, when he found out he got bumped to the surveillance room and his paycheck was slashed to 2,000 dollars a month, he completely lost in
He almost quit the job, but recalling how boastful he was, he felt embarrassed to tell Hailey that he lost his job again.
Reluctantly, he decided to go along with it.
Natalie went back to the hospital. Hansen did not answer her calls, so she went straight to the doctor’s o
office.
Standing outside the door, she heard an intense argument going on inside.
The patient has already paid the deposit. Why haven’t you arranged an operating room for her?” said Hansen angrily.
“She hasn’t paid the full amount. I have the right to postpone her surgery, Kimberly said mercilessly.
“I didn’t expect you to be such a heartless person, Dr. Larson,” Hansen snapped.
“I’m a doctor, not a philanthropist. Am I wrong to follow the hospital’s rules! Or are you making a special exception for her because you’ve fallen in love with her granddaughter?” she asked.
“What nonsense is this, Kimberly? I’m so disappointed in you.” Hansen did not want to argue with her anymore and wanted to leave.
However, Kimberly blocked the entrance. “Tell me, Hansen. Do you like me or not? If you like me, don’t torture me like this. If you don’t—”
“Please don’t mix your personal feelings with work, Kimberly. I’m into someone else. You and I can’t be together,” said Hansen slowly.
“No way! Who is she?” Kimberly stopped him
“Get out of my way!” Hansen’s face was flushed with rage.
Kimberly raised her voice hysterically. “I won’t. You must have feelings for me! Was your kindness toward me all an act? Is it because of that patient’s family? You only met her once, but we had been classmates for three years-
“Enough, Kimberly. I won’t like you even if we have known each other forever,” he said.
The door was abruptly pushed open and Natalie bumped into Hansen.
Stunned, Hansen wanted to
ted to say something but Kimberly had followed him out.
At the sight of Natalie, Kimberly flew into a rage. “You again? Why do you keep pestering Dr. Yates? You might as well use your free time to scrape together money instead of seducing ment she yelled.

Kimberly’s anger flared. Ignoring the onlookers, she shouted at Natalie, “Listen carefully. Your grandmother won’t receive surgery if the money is not fully paid
“Please hear me out. Dr. Larson. I’ll get money to pay the surgery fee right away. Please don’t cancel my grandmother’s surgery,” Natalie begged.
-However, Kimberly completely ignored her. Kimberly wanted to let Hansen know that without her help, he could not perform the surgery.
Natalie begged for a long time to no

Thus, she went to her apartment again, crouching at the door and waiting for Samuel
It was already dark when someone finally returned. Instead of Samuel, it was a family of three.
Seeing the woman open the door with the key, Natalie rushed over. “Hello, I’m the owner of this apartment. Why do you have the key?”
“You’re the owner! The woman was surprised. “But that’s not right. Yesterday, Mr. Lynch said he’s the owner and showed us the property deed”

“Did he?” Natalie couldn’t believe it. “How is it possible?”
“It’s true. If you don’t believe me, ask my husband. We both saw it, the woman said confidently.
“Are you renting the apartment?” Natalie asked again.
“Yes. Mr. Lynch said he needs money urgently. If we can pay a year’s rent, we will get a discount. So we paid him a total of 20,000 dollars. We signed the agreement and he handed over the key, the woman explained.
Natalie’s limbs went cold, and she felt dizzy after knowing Samuel forged the property deed and rented her apartment out.
“I’m sorry, but you can’t enter the apartment.” Natalie blocked the entrance and prepared to call the police.
The woman’s husband knocked Natalie’s phone away. “Who do you think you are to stop us from going in?”
“I’m the owner of this apartment,” Natalie said.
“I don’t care which one of you is the owner. I rented the apartment from Samuel Lynch. If you have something to say, just tell him,” the man replied.
He then rudely grabbed Natalie’s collar and shoved her aside. Then, they entered the apartment and quickly closed the door.
Anxious. Natalie knocked on the door violently. “Listen, the real owner of the apartment is me, not Samuel Lynch. The property deed he showed you is fake. If you don’t believe me, you can go to the management office to check,” she said.
“My grandmother is still in the hospital and needs the money for her surgery. The hospital said that she won’t survive without the surgery. Please. I know you’ve been deceived, but you can report it to the police and let them deal with it. If you occupy my apartment, how can I pay for my grandmother’s surgery?” Natalie grew agitated as she spoke, which attracted many neighbors‘ attention.
Finally, someone called the police because of the disturbance, and Natalie was taken away.
Natalie calmed down at the police station. The police took her statement, but considering her unstable emotional state, they asked her to contact her family to pick her up.
She had no choice but to call Martin. Fortunately, this time, he answered the call fairly quickly. In less than fifteen minutes, Martin arrived. Natalie was quite surprised.
“Are

hurt?” The moment Martin arrived, the atmosphere in the police station became tense.
Seeing the nervous look on Martin’s face, Natalie teared up. “My ex–boyfriend rented my apartment out,” she said.
“It’s okay. Wait for me in the car.” Martin gave the car key to Natalie.
Natalie didn’t know what he was going to do, so she did as she was told.
About half an hour later, Martin came out. A man trailed behind him, appearing subservient and respectful.
Martin’s face was grin the entire time. A faint smile finally appeared on his face after the man said something.
Right t
then, Natalie saw the family of three being brought out of a police car.
“Why are they here as well?‘ she wondered
