Chapter 14
Garret- Before
“It’s done. What more do you want from me?” Standing in front of the council of elders I glared at them. What more did they want from me? I had married the little wolf because the contracts had been signed when we were children. No one had bothered to ask me what I wanted.
Mostly because they didn’t care. All that mattered to them was that I bonded myself to a nobody. Hell I hadn’t even heard of her before the day her photograph was handed to me with the words “your mate.”
A plain little thing with slightly frizzy hair that seemed to stick out in every direction. If I had walked past her I wouldn’t have noticed her at all.
She was nothing
In fact I didn’t even give her a thought throughout the day. All my thoughts were on Prudie. My mate. Finding her again the day of my bonding ceremony was amazing. We had been lovers as teenagers. Nothing had come of it. I hadn’t felt the spark of mating mark until she had come back into my life.
There could be no denying it though. She was my true mate. The one who has saved my life in the woods. I would recognize her scent anywhere.
“You have not gone to her bed?
I did a double take. “You don’t know that.”
Three sets of eyes narrowed on me. “Yes we do. You have not been seen with her at all.”
I scowled at them. They were watching me and it made me furious. What right did they have? I was their alpha. I ruled them and yet they tried to dictate how I spent my time.
“You have no right to spy on me, I am your alpha.” My growl was threatening but it didn’t seem to faze them at all.
“Yes and one day you could be more than alpha.” The oldest one said cryptically. My frown deepened. Comments like that had been thrown around all my life but no one would ever explain them.
“But you must go to your mate and produce an heir. Lots of little pups.”
“I have been with my mate. My goddess given mate. I am sure
A growl met my words. “Prudie is not your mate. She is a distraction.”
She wasn’t a distraction, she was the one I wanted to spend my time with. Not some plain Jane who had no experience of men.
“Do not talk” I was so angry that I couldn’t talk. “I will do my duty and keep this pack safe but I will not give up Prudie not ever.”
“Then you must keep your relationship quiet. The union of you and Skye is imporyant. It must be successful.”
I’d heard enough. Without a word I stood and walked away leaving them to stare at me with their mouths open.
Heading towards the forest and the peace it would offer me, I had shifted into my wolf before I hit the trees.
My paws pounded on the forest floor. Crunching twigs and leaves under my feet. I needed to run and clear my head.
I just didn’t get it. Why Skye was so important. And no one would tell me.
She was a nobody.
Barely even attractive
A splash sounded and my feet slowed. My head snapped in the direction of the stream.
Glancing around I made a whining sound in my throat. I was close to the place where my mate had saved me only a few weeks always took me in this direction

There was a woman bathing in the water. Her back to me, blonde hair dripped down her spine. She was splashing herself. Laughing the entire time. It was such a lighthearted sound Carefree and beautiful

Sending myself down I rested my head on my paws and watched as she ducked under the water. Totally submerging herself

Chapter 11
For too long she stayed under the water. So long that I started to get worried.
Then she surfaced. Pushing herself out of the water with a flick of her hair like some kind of siren
The breath left my lungs in a whoosh as I took in her body. Long legs, a narrow waist and high small breasts each adorned with tight pink nipples,
My eyes roved over her body. Taking it all in. There was a softness about it. One that the man in me wanted to sink into.
Moving my gaze down her body again, I found her mound. The hair on it was golden but hid nothing.
I whined again. Louder than I meant to.
I wanted to feast on her. Wrap her legs around my head and see if that golden down was as soft as it looked.
The urge was unbelievably strong. Like a physical pain.
Sliding on my belly out of my hiding spot I stepped into the sunlight. I lifted my giant head and found her face for the first time.
Skye.
My plain little mate wasn’t so plain after all. In fact she was beautiful.
Her eyes widened and she took a step backwards. Her movements unsure as she ducked her shoulders back under the water.
“Don’t come any closer.” She held out her hand to stop me. “I will scream
I cocked my head to the side. She didn’t recognize me in my wolf form. But why would she? She had never seen it before.
I mean it-
I shifted stepping completely naked into the water. It splashed cold against my ankles but I didn’t care.
“No you won’t.” I growled as I waded towards her.
She watched me coming. Her eyes saucer round as she took in my naked form.
For a second her eyes alighted on my hard cock and her mouth opened in shock.
It made me grin.
She might not have the experience Prudie had but she liked what she saw. It was time she enjoyed it as well.
