Chapter 3
Gamer
The sound of coughing seemed to rattle the wooden lodge around me. Of course that was a huge exaggeration but that’s sound was driving me crazy and I’d had enough.
‘s how it felt. The constant
Yes, Skye had gotten a little wet walking home but as always she was making a huge song and dancing over it What kind of shifter got a cold anyway? The weak kind, I told myself.
She wasn‘ Luna material. I didn’t care what my grandmother said. Or if it was the right thing to do, I couldn’t stay in this relationship any longer.
She was too weak. There was no warmth in her and even if there was I wouldn’t have wanted her. Didn’t matter to me if she was beautiful. I had found my mate. I had kissed her lips when she had rescued me from a raiding party. I was married but my heart didn’t belong to my wife it belonged to my mates
A maid.
“My love?”
I stopped by my open doorway and my mouth fell open as I watched her arch her back. It pushed her high firm breasts out and my mouth flooded with saliva at the sight of them.
No, Prudie wasn’t just a maid. She was my love and she was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen.
And she was waiting naked and willing in my bed. A smile curved up the corners of my mouth but it was short lived as another wracking cough made me wince back.
“Ignore her” Prudie reached out a hand towards me and every part of me wanted to take it. She made me so happy. She always had even back when we had dated as teenagers. If I had realised then that she was my fated one I would never have agreed to the myself to Skye.
“Ignore her and conse to me. I need to tell you something”
Every part of me wanted to go to her. To crand into that big comfortable bed and lose myself in the heat and softness of her body but I couldn’t
I had to check on my wife.
Mostly to tell her to shut up but part of me, a very small part wanted to make sure she was ok. I knew she had walked back from town in the middle of a storm for some reason but a little bit of rain shouldn’t have caused this much misery.
Ill be back.”
Prudie pouted, her face screwing up like a petulant child’s. “You would rather go to get than stay here with me.” She whined.
“She is Luna. I have a duty.”
Prudie’s face flamed red. “Your Luna?” She bunched the sheets up in her fists and bared her teeth. “And what does that make me? What does that make me Garret
I opened my mouth to tell her she was my heart when something flew from her hand. It fluttered to my feet and I didn’t make a move to pick it up. It looked like paper
Of all the things Prudie threw in her tantrums, paper was never one of them
“If you loved me, you would make me Luna.” She continued to screech. “I am the one that is about to give you what you want more than anything else.” She pointed to the paper. “Can your precious Luna give you that?”
“You are being absurd Pruilence,” I said firmly. I loved her but her temper tantrums were exhausting. She could have anything she wanted all she had to do was ask. She didn’t have to shout and scream because I wanted to give her the world but she had to understand that I had responsibilities
as well
Bending up I picked up the folded piece of paper and opened it.
My heart slammed up into my throat. The photo was grainy and in black and white but I knew what it was. Happiness flooded through my veins. Lifting my eyes to her I grinned. “Is this real?”
She nodded, a pouty look still on her face. “Yeah, it’s real
“I’m going to be a father?” I had been waiting for this moment for years.
“Yeah, it looks like u doesn’t it”

“Oh, Prudie.” I took a stumbling step into the room and she growled. “I do not want you now Garret. Go to your Kuna and leave me alone”
My happiness dimmed. “Come on Prudie-”
“No” she whipped her head back and forth. “Go to your Luna and leave me alone. It’s not like I will ever be your Luna, is it? I will just be the nother of your child.”
“I will look after you both. And love you. What more do you want!”
She screamed at me to get out. Her face turned beetroot red. Reluctantly I did so, shutting the door softly behind me. I went further down the hallway. Following the sound of the coughing
The door to Skye’s small room was open so I didn’t bother to knock, I just stepped in.
Skye was on the bed, curled up on her side as her body rocked with the coughs that ripped their way out of her mouth and she looked like death.
She wasn’t as beautiful as Prudie. Skye was always more natural. With her wayward hair and the dusting of freckles over her nose. Pretty but not show stopping but right then she looked like a haggard witch
I had never seen anyone look so rotten.
“Alpha.” She tried to push herself upright so she could scramble to her feet. “I’m sorry I didn’t hear you-
I pushed at her shoulders until she was lying down again. “Rest Skye. Are you sick still?”
Murely she nodded,
“My grandmother tells me you won’t take any medicine? Why?”
Eyes skipped away guiltily. “I just don’t want to.”
I frowned. It was like she was trying to keep herself sick on purpose. She probably was. I realised with a growl. This was probably some pathetic attempt to try and get some attention,
I stepped back without thinking Glancing down at the photo in my hand. Her eyes followed mine down and she frowned.
“Where did you get that?”
Shoving it in my pocket I shook my head. “It’s none of your business Skye, just take the damn medicine so I don’t have to listen to your goddess awful whining “I slammed the door behind me.
Skye wasn’t what was important now. The mother of my pup was and it was time I remembered that. Prudie was giving me a child. The one thing I wanted more than anything. It was time I returned the favour and gave her what she wanted.
It was time to make her Luna for real.
