The blue diamond necklace complemented Yasmine’s beauty. She looked stunning and elegant.
David couldn’t wait any longer. He pulled Yasmine into his embrace, moving in to kiss her, but she turned her head away.
“Mr. Wells, please don’t do this.” Yasmine pushed David away.
She felt disgusted deep down and didn’t want to sell her body.
“What? Are you trying to back out?” David looked displeased.
Yasmine took off the necklace from her neck and said, “I… I haven’t showered yet.”
David chuckled. “Then hurry up and take a shower. I’ll be waiting for you.”
Yasmine quickly went into the bathroom, leaning against the door with her eyes closed as her mind raced.
She had mentally prepared herself before coming. But she still struggled to overcome the hurdle in her heart.
After calming herself for a long while, she finally undressed and stepped into the shower.
She imagined all kinds of abuse and violations she would face later. Waves of repulsion surged through her at the idea of being pinned under David, a man as old as her father.
Even after her shower, she couldn’t muster the courage to open the door and go out there.
At that moment, her phone vibrated. It was her mother calling. Yasmine hesitated before answering the phone.
“Yasmine, where are you? It’s so late and you’re not home yet.”
“I’m at Bonnie’s. I won’t be back tonight.”
“You’re lying! I called Bonnie, and she told me. Get home right now,” Nadine Sibbett scolded sternly.
Bonnie Withers was Yasmine’s best friend. She had only confided in Bonnie about offering herself to David.
Bonnie had pleaded with her not to go through with it.
“Mom, I have no choice. Dad owes the loan sharks millions, and the interest is accumulating. We can never pay it all back. If I don’t do this, our whole family will be ruined.” Tears welled up in Yasmine’s eyes as she spoke.
“I know you try to help. But I forbid my daughter from sacrificing herself like this. Your father brought this upon himself, it has nothing to do with you. “Besides, David is no good person. Our family’s situation today is all his doing, it’s all his scheme,” Nadine said anxiously over the phone.
“What does it have to do with Mr. Wells?” Yasmine hurriedly asked.
“Your father was lured into an underground casino by David. He is the secret boss behind that whole operation. From the start, he wanted to buy out our factory since that area is set for redevelopment soon.
“David schemed to make your dad lose a lot at the casino when he refused to sell. That way he could force us to sell the factory at a low price. Now he’s set his sights on you. You can’t fall into his trap.”
Nadine’s explanation left Yasmine gripped with fear.
“Why didn’t you tell me all this sooner?”
“What good would it do to tell you? It’s your father’s fault. We’ll figure something out. Come back now. David is despicable and ruthless. Even if you give him what he wants, he won’t leave your father alone.”
Hanging up, Yasmine quickly got dressed. But she didn’t immediately storm out to confront David.
“Yasmine, are you ready? Come out and have a drink with me.” David knocked on the door.
“I’ll be ready in a moment.” Yasmine stalled, frantically thinking of a way out.
She had seen David’s guards at the entrance when arriving. If she confronted him, there was no way she could escape.
At that moment, she saw the recent text message from Steven on her phone.
