Chapter 112
“Huh?” Yasmine looked puzzled.
“Then how come you’re unharmed? Titus isn’t one to mess with!”
“It’s simple because Titus fears me. In my presence, he can only kneel and beg for mercy,” Steven stated.
Yasmine doubted Steven’s ability to make Titus kneel given his background. But the clever and tactful Yasmine didn’t voice her doubts, allowing the boastful Steven to keep his dignity.
“I see, then I worry for nothing,” Yasmine went along.
“Don’t worry about David, I’ll handle it. You go back,” Steven said.
“Come with me, it’s too dangerous here. After all, this is David’s turf.” Yasmine worriedly insisted.
“I have other matters to settle.”
Steven closed Yasmine’s car door. Before leaving, she reminded him, “Steven, please be careful.”
Steven waved her off, watching until she left, then returned to the private room.
“Steven, I was just about to call you. What took you so long in the restroom?” A satisfied Noel greeted him.
“Where’s Kimberly?”
Steven sat down, but the top hostess Kimberly was nowhere in sight.
,
“I was just about to tell you. Kimberly is the top hostess at Joy Club. We were lucky to get her today. But someone insisted on having Kimberly accompany them for drinks, so they took her away.”
Steven took a sip of his drink. “So, the beautiful lady we paid for can be taken away midway? Is this how Joy Club does business?”
“You, go get her back,” Steven said to the madam.
The madam smiled and explained, “Mr. Lewis, please don’t be angry. Normally, we wouldn’t do this. But this client has an esteemed status, and I can’t afford to offend him.”
“So, are you saying we’re inferior to that client? And we can be disrespected at whim?” Steven said, displeased.
A master should command awe.
“Mr. Lewis, if you insist on putting it that way, I can’t help it. But Mr. Jones agreed to Kimberly being taken earlier. Since he didn’t object despite paying, there’s no need for you to be upset.”
The Joy Club madam spoke boldly, showing no regard for Steven, her words tinged with disdain.
“How dare you speak to a client like that?” Noel’s face darkened as he scolded her.
“Mr. Jones, please calm down. I’m just stating the facts. Your friend is imprudent, I merely reminded him,” the madam said.
“Enough, shut up.” Noel knew the Joy Club madams pretended to be friendly but looked down on non–elite clients. Their politeness was shallow and insincere. Noel quickly explained to Steven.
The person who took Kimberly away was Gerald Wright. He was the son of Edison Wright, the Elite Business Association’s deputy chairman. They couldn’t afford to offend him.
Furthermore, Noel’s company had business dealings with a subsidiary of Edison’s company. He could only swallow his pride.
“I’m sorry, Steven. Let me have the madam arrange two others for you, and you can take them out. All expenses on me,” Noel said apologetically.
Hearing the explanation, Steven didn’t want to embarrass his friend. He smiled and said, “We’re best friends, there’s no need for that. Besides, Lstill have Yara here. It’s fine.”
“Keep Steven good company,” Noel told Yara.
Yara reluctantly picked up her glass and accompanied Steven. But she remained silent and reserved unlike a hostess meant for entertaining.
“Hurry and get two more girls for Steven. Look at her, does she look like a hostess to you? Come on, show some professionalism here. “If you’re going to do this job and earn this money, take it seriously. If you can’t handle it, don’t do it.”
