Chapter 41 Why Is Sabrina Here
Victor didn’t take the clothes. Instead, he said flatly, “Bring Jordan to wash up and change into some clean clothes.”
He knew Jordan had a thing for cleanliness. His clothes had to be spotless, and he couldn’t tolerate even the slightest imperfection.
Victor couldn’t imagine why the usually composed Sabrina had ended up throwing up all over him. Jordan downed his drink and followed the manager to the private lounge that Victor had set up.
“Pft!” As soon as Jordan left, Ethan burst out laughing. “The woman I like really has guts. I’ve never seen Jordan look so frustrated and angry.”
“Shh! Are you trying to get yourself killed? Don’t say that in front of him.” Victor poured himself a drink and continued, “Why do you keep testing Jordan’s patience? Do you still want to make money?”
“My first love is ending without any resolution. Can’t I be a little sentimental? When I told Jordan I wanted to pursue Sabrina, he didn’t even oppose it. He clearly wanted to see me make a fool of myself.”
“Well, you were after someone else’s wife. You brought this on yourself.”
“She’s divorced!”
“Not completely divorced.”
“Anyway, it’s bound to happen sooner or later. He has to repay Valerie’s kindness. He can’t be with two women at once, right?”
“You really do dare to say anything, don’t you?”
Victor shook his head. “I remember back in school, you liked another girl. How did Sabrina become your first love? You really have some nerve. Every time you meet a decent girl, you call her your first love.”
“Do you even know how to hold a conversation?“,
After showering, Jordan looked at the discarded clothes in the bin. As he walked out, he told the manager waiting by the door, “Have the clothes cleaned and ask Victor to send them to my place.”
The alarm went off the next morning. Sabrina groped blindly to turn it off. She yawned and reluctantly got up.
After freshening up and having breakfast, she drove to the hospital for work. As soon as she arrived at her office, Troy pushed the door open and placed a steaming cup of coffee in front of her.
“Where did your ex–husband take you last night? Are you all right?”
Troy had seen Sabrina being pushed into the car by her ex–husband. By the time he wanted to give chase, the car had already driven off.
When Zayn pulled up beside him, Troy asked Zayn to follow them as he was worried Sabrina might be in trouble.
Sabrina nodded and replied, “I’m fine.”
Troy nodded back and placed a CT scan in front of her. “Take a look at this.”
After a short discussion, Troy had a sudden realization and returned to his office.
It wasn’t a very demanding job since Sabrina had just started working at the hospital. As long as she kept up with Troy’s pace, it was smooth sailing.
She enjoyed the leisurely life of drinking coffee, watching dramas, and getting a steady paycheck. It was a comfortable lifestyle.
At noon, Sabrina had lunch with Troy at the cafeteria. On the way back to the office, Troy said, “There’s a surgery this afternoon. I’ll have to trouble you to be my assistant.”
“Sure, if you don’t mind.”
“By the way, you mentioned you know a renowned psychologist. Could you share their contact information with me? I’d like to consult about something and get some professional advice.”
“Of course. I’ll send you the details. But she’s not in the city right now, so you’ll have to communicate via video call.”
“Mr. Ford, isn’t that Mrs. Ford?”
Adrian had accidentally referred to Sabrina as “Mrs. Ford” again. After three years, it was hard to change that habit.
Jordan followed his gaze and saw a woman in a white coat walking and deep in conversation with a man. He recognized the man as Sabrina’s boyfriend.
Jordan’s expression turned grim. “Find out why Sabrina is here.”
He noted that she was in a doctor’s attire. From what he knew, Sabrina had never studied medicine and didn’t have any medical skills.
