Chapter 44 The Dinner
When Zayn picked Sabrina up in the evening, he handed her a dress. “I’ve got the outfit ready for you. It’s the brand you like.”
“You’re really generous.”
“It’s for you to wear, not just anyone. Of course, I had to go all out!”
Sabrina smiled. “Not bad. You’re quite the charmer. So, what’s the plan?”
“My company is almost ready. Tonight’s banquet will be attended by the Hornsey’s business and political elite, including the Golden family,”
Upon hearing this, Sabrina finally understood Zayn’s intentions.
When they reached the parking lot, Zayn got out first. Meanwhile, Sabrina slipped into the apricot–colored backless gown, applied light makeup, and let her long hair down.
When Sabrina was ready, she stepped out of the car. Her stunning look left Zayn instantly captivated.
“You look so beautiful, Brina! The angels would be envious.”
“Okay. Enough with the flattery.” She walked over to Zayn and naturally linked her arm with his. “Are you ready?”
The revenge drama was about to unfold tonight. Zayn was the lead, and Sabrina was the supporting role. Ever since she saved Zayn, she had promised to help him seek revenge.
Rosie had deliberately abandoned the young Zayn and caused him to be kidnapped by human traffickers. He endured unimaginable hardships as he was passed around among buyers. If not for his resilience, he wouldn’t be alive today.
They said no mother in this world could truly hate her child, yet some were willing to abandon their own flesh and blood.
The banquet hall was brightly lit. Business and political figures mingled, their glasses clinking in celebration.
Zayn presented the invitation and escorted Sabrina into the grand hall. With her fair skin glowing and the shimmering apricot gown accentuating her figure, Sabrina immediately drew the attention of many as she entered.
On the second floor, Victor scanned the hall. “Damn! Jordan, isn’t that Sabrina?”
Jordan, who had been looking down at his phone, heard Victor and looked up. He saw Sabrina on the arm of a man, glowing radiantly under the lights.
She said a few words to him, covering her mouth as she laughed lightly. Her every gesture and movement was graceful.
“Jordan, your wife has this side to her too. I have to say, the look suits her well!”
Victor held a glass of wine, clearly enjoying the sight. He knew Sabrina was already a beauty without any adornment, but with a little dressing up, she was truly unparalleled, a rare beauty on earth.
Jordan’s eyes darkened slightly. He found Sabrina increasingly unfamiliar as if he had never truly seen through her before. How many more sides to her did he not know about?
Sabrina sensed an intense gaze on her. She looked up and scanned the room casually. Her eyes inevitably met Jordan’s deep, dark ones.
Sabrina’s delicate face paused momentarily without a trace of guilt. Instead, she curved her lips into a dazzling smile in Jordan’s direction, making his heart skip a beat.
Jordan frowned and averted his gaze just as Adrian approached him. “Mr. Ford, Mr. Lopaz is here.”
Zayn handed Sabrina a glass of champagne before whispering in her ear, “I’m going to make the rounds. I’ll come find you later.”
Sabrina nodded, holding her champagne flute, and made her way to the dessert area. She soon spotted her target.
Approaching with a smile, she asked, “Excuse me, may I sit here?”
The woman was wearing a black V–neck gown, her features delicate, but her face devoid of any expression. She seemed disinterested in the evening’s festivities, even a bit numb to it all.
“Be my guest,” she replied.
Sabrina sat down across from her, taking a sip of champagne. Her gaze casually settled on the woman as she spoke in a nonchalant tone. “Mrs. Golden, I heard your son is here as well today?”
