Chapter 45 Vicious Heart
Rosie finally met Sabrina’s gaze. She stared at her quietly.
Sabrina was undeniably a stunning woman. Rosie knew that a mediocre man like Kenneth couldn’t possibly be acquainted with someone as beautiful as Sabrina. If he were, he surely would have mentioned it by now.
“What exactly are you implying?” she asked.
“I just find it curious that Mr. Golden bears little resemblance to his father,” Sabrina mused.
“Sons often take after their mothers. It’s not uncommon for them to look different from their fathers,” Rosie replied coolly.
“I don’t think both of you look alike either. You are far more attractive than he is!” Sabrina added with a meaningful smile.
Rosie’s expression shifted as she fixed Sabrina with an icy stare. “What are you getting at?”
“I simply find it remarkable that you could bring yourself to abandon your own child,” Sabrina said bluntly.
Rosie’s pupils constricted, her face draining of color.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about!” she snapped, rising abruptly from her seat.
She hurried over to her husband, Benedict Golden, and gripped his sleeve. “I’m not feeling well. I’d like to leave.”
Benedict frowned, clearly displeased. “And what are you up to now?”
“I’m really unwell. If you won’t go, then have the driver take me home,” Rosie insisted.
As she turned to leave, Benedict caught her by the shoulder, pulling her back to him.
“We still haven’t settled things from last time. Don’t challenge me. Rosie, I’ve been more than patient with you and your antics over the years, but it’s time you learned to behave.”
In the past, Rosie would have pushed Benedict away and mocked him, but this time she didn’t. Just as Benedict was feeling puzzled, a man approached them and politely extended his hand.
“Mr. Golden, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
Benedict looked at him as they shook hands. “And you are?”
“I’m part of the Golden family. I’m Zayn Golden. I’ve always been interested in your company’s work in technology. I heard you recently launched a smart robot, and I’d love to order one to see how it performs.”
Benedict smiled and replied, “If you’re interested, our company would happily accommodate. We…”
He spoke confidently, giving a brief introduction about the company and highlighting the features and conveniences of their technology.
Zayn appeared to be listening intently, but his gaze kept drifting to Rosie, who had gone stiff upon hearing his name.

“Why do you keep looking at me, Mrs. Golden?” After Benedict finished talking, Zayne casually asked Rosie. Although he was smiling, his eyes were as cold as ice. Benedict glanced down, looking somewhat annoyed. “Please excuse me.
”
Then, he pulled Rosie aside and warned, “Don’t you dare hawk at a man like that. If you dare to act brazenly again, I’ll make sure you’re out of the Golden family tomorrow.”
Years of love had long since faded away in the routine of daily life and the pain they endured together. Benedict believed he had been more than patient with Rosie. However, Rosie ignored him. Her fists clenched tightly as her mind was consumed with thoughts of Zayn.
It couldn’t be. Something must have gone wrong. That child had disappeared without a trace all those years ago. She had searched for him but found nothing, and she had resigned herself to the belief that he was dead.
Benedict was infuriated by her stubbornness and turned away, unwilling to deal with her any longer.
Tonight’s banquet was crucial for him; his company had just developed a new robot, and he needed a platform to promote it.
If he could secure investments from others, he wouldn’t have to worry about funding for the research anymore.
While he may have been a failure as a lover, he was determined not to fail in his career. He had to succeed at least in one of those aspects.
Just as Rosie was about to leave, she heard a voice behind her that made her freeze in place. “Mrs. Golden, you seemed to be looking at me for quite a while. Do I look familiar to you?”
