Rosie turned her back to Zayn as she was unable to muster the courage to face him.
Zayn stepped in front of her with concern. “Mrs. Golden, are you all right?”
He reached out to touch her, but Rosie flinched as if startled, stumbling backward.
“Don’t touch me!” Her voice rose, drawing the attention of several people nearby.
Zayn’s hand froze mid–air before he slowly withdrew it and shoved it into his pocket. His gaze grew colder than before.
“What do you want with my mother?” A man rushed over, positioning himself protectively in front of Rosie, his eyes filled with suspicion and hostility as he glared at Zayn.
Rosie seized the opportunity to catch her breath. She tugged at Kenneth’s sleeve and said, “Let’s get out of here now!”
“Stay away from my mother,” Kenneth warned, instinctively sensing that the man before him posed a threat to Rosie. He assumed that the man was just another one of her admirers.
As Kenneth led Rosie away, whispers erupted among the crowd. “Did you hear? Rosie seems to be quite the player. I wonder how many men she’s been with.” “Who knows? It’s truly unfortunate for Benedict. I can’t believe he has put up with her for so long!”
“Shh, keep your voice down! Everyone knows Benedict would go to great lengths for his wife. Only someone like Rosie would be so ungrateful, chasing after someone else while pretending to be a devoted wife.”
“Enough about that. Let’s talk about this guy. How many lovers do you think Rosie had before him?”
Just then, a stunning woman gracefully approached Zayn, linking her arm through his before turning to leave. A few women nearby couldn’t help but gossip. “It seems we misunderstood. Just look at how beautiful his partner is. How could he possibly be interested in an old woman like Rosie?
“If I’m not mistaken, that dress she’s wearing is from the renowned designer Anna’s latest Spring/Summer collection, ‘Midsummer Night‘. I have a friend who’s been trying to get one for ages but hasn’t been able to.”
Sabrina linked her arm with Zayn’s and whispered, “I think Benedict was quite unhappy with your behavior earlier. You know how much he cares about Rosie. Why did you get so close to her?”
“I held back. I just wanted to see if she remembers me.”
“What? Are you planning to acknowledge her as your mother?”
“No.” Zayn had long since given up on any illusions of maternal love.
Sabrina smirked. “If Benedict knew he had such an outstanding son, he’d probably wake up smiling from his dreams.”
As they approached Benedict, Sabrina smiled and expressed her interest in investing in the technology company. Benedict’s gaze swept over them, and he inquired about the investment amount without missing a beat.
“One billion dollars!” Before Zayn could say anything, Sabrina had already dangled the bait.
Upon hearing this, Benedict was overjoyed and immediately engaged in an animated conversation with Zayn.
Zayn, having thoroughly prepared on the subject of intelligent technology, delivered a presentation so professional that it left Benedict deeply impressed. Benedict’s admiration for Zayn was clear in his eyes.
After Jordan wrapped up his discussion, he walked out of the room with Victor. Just then he noticed a delicate beauty sitting quietly beside a man, as still as a sculpture.
First Troy, and now Zayn. His wife certainly had a knack for this. With a cold glance, Jordan turned away and was about to leave the banquet hall with Victor. “You’re leaving just like that? Don’t you want to say hello?”
“There’s no need to.”
Once in the car, Jordan coldly instructed Adrian, “Find out why Sabrina is here today!”
