Chapter 49 Clear My Name
Nobody listened to Troy, and people started speaking over him.
“You’re a great doctor, Mr. Walker. Don’t let Sabrina fool you.”
“Yes. You can’t judge a book by its cover. Don’t let her looks deceive you.”
“You got it all wrong. Sabrina isn’t like that,” Troy explained. At this point, nobody listened to him. They had already decided Sabrina’s negligence caused Eric’s death.
Seeing that everyone was on his side, Charles felt smug.
“No matter how hard you try to deny it, you’re the reason for Dad’s death. I’m calling the police right now to seek justice.”
The woman, who had approached Charles earlier, made a promise. As long as Sabrina’s reputation was ruined, he’d get 500 thousand dollars. Besides that, Charles would also get some hefty compensation. His days of living rich were just ahead.
With a calm and composed demeanor, Sabrina glanced around and nonchalantly said, “Call the cops. I want them to clear my name as well.” Everyone at the scene was stunned. Seeing her so confident, Charles sneered. “Fine. But don’t regret it. I’m calling the police right now.”
As he spoke, Charles pulled out his phone and called 911. Frowning, Troy wanted to stop Charles, but he held back after meeting Sabrina’s gaze. Shortly after, the police arrived at the scene. After learning about what happened, they were unsure how to handle it.
Sabrina said, “I’d like to speak with you privately, officer. I have solid evidence proving that this is a setup against me.” When Sabrina finished speaking, everyone looked at her. Charles felt restless deep down in his heart.
“If you have evidence, show it right now. Are you planning to bribe them in private?”
“Yeah! If she had proof, she would’ve presented it earlier. Who knows what tricks she might be up to.”
“Nowadays, young, pretty girls are quite crafty.”
“What nonsense are you talking about? We uphold the law fairly and won’t favor anyone.”
Brimming with a sense of justice, the police officer looked at Sabrina. “Since that’s what they’re saying, if you have proof, you should show it and prove your innocence. Fret not, as long as you’re in the right, those who spread rumors won’t get away with it.”
Not far away, Valerie had been watching the situation unfold. When she saw the police arrive, she couldn’t help but frown. That idiot actually let things get out of hand.
However, if Sabrina didn’t have solid proof, she’d find herself in a medical malpractice lawsuit with Charles pressing the matter. Her career would suffer, and her reputation would be tarnished.
All Valerie wanted was to bring Sabrina down completely. Seeing that the situation had escalated enough, Valerie pulled out her phone.
“Hello, I want to give you a scoop. You can come up now.”
Troy handed a tablet to Sabrina just as a group of reporters appeared out of nowhere. They shoved their cameras in her face and bombarded her with a flurry of questions.
“According to an insider, you didn’t even graduate from high school, Dr. Tucker. How does someone who never even went to college become a doctor at this hospital?”
“This was your first solo operation in the hospital, and someone died. Can you take responsibility for what happened?”
“Who helped you behind the scenes to make you a doctor? Did you earn this position on your own merits? Please tell us more.”
When Troy was about to say something, Sabrina stopped him. Facing the cameras, Sabrina smiled.
“I appreciate the media’s concern about my personal matters. I don’t know who fed you these baseless rumors that slander my character. Since the police are here, I’d like you all to bear witness as I clear my name.”
