Chapter 50 Mrs. Ford Is in Trouble Mr. Ford
Meanwhile, Adrian learned about what happened in the hospital and quickly informed Jordan about it. “Mrs. Ford is in trouble, Mr. Ford.”
Jordan paused halfway through signing and looked up. “What happened?”
“A patient Mrs. Ford operated on yesterday passed away this morning after resuscitation attempts failed. The deceased’s son accused her of being responsible for his father’s death and is causing a scene at the hospital to hold her accountable. The police and reporters are at the hospital now.”
With a deep gaze, Jordan tossed aside the pen in his hand and grabbed his coat before walking out. Adrian quickly trailed behind him.
On their way there, Jordan asked, “How’s the investigation I assigned to you?”
“Mrs. Ford didn’t continue her education after graduating from middle school. Her records only show her work experience afterward. Most of them are basic labor jobs, which aligns with what we found earlier.”
“Does that mean she’s never been involved with medicine?”
“That’s what we found in our investigations. Also, Troy personally recommended Mrs. Ford to the hospital.
“Troy is the youngest and most promising director in the hospital’s neurosurgery department. The hospital has been focusing on developing his talent, and Dr. Iverson holds him in high regard. Generally, Dr. Iverson rarely turns down his request.”
Jordan narrowed his gaze. “Is he the boyfriend you mentioned?”
“Yes,” Adrian reluctantly answered.
Jordan snickered. “Looks like he messed up this time and made a fool out of himself.”
After everyone watched Sabrina’s video, the public opinion quickly shifted to her side. People started looking at Charles with odd looks.
Charles felt his legs give out. Failing to steady himself against the wall, he collapsed to the floor.
The footage captured Charles exiting the bathroom at around 5:12 a.m. and pacing around the bed. Then, he turned off the oxygen machine without hesitation. Lying on the bed, Eric struggled a little before losing all signs of life. After making sure Eric was dead, Charles turned the oxygen machine back on and lay down to sleep as if nothing had happened.
“I’m committed to my patient’s well–being. With Eric’s permission, I installed real–time monitoring devices in the patient room to monitor their conditions at all times. I didn’t foresee that this simple act would end up capturing such a heartbreaking scene.”
Sabrina pulled out the document Eric had signed before the surgery from her pocket.
Sabrina spun on her heels, looking at Charles whose face had gone deathly pale. “You claim to be a loving son. Is that how you take care of your father?”
When Sabrina finished her sentence, the ward fell completely silent. With all eyes on him, Charles‘ lips trembled. He was unable to utter a single word to defend himself as if he had gone mute.
“There are no grudges between us. Why would you kill your father and try to frame me? Is someone making you do this? Was it that so–called whistleblower?” Seeing Charles remain silent, Sabrina smirked. “You’d better think this through. Your actions already constitute murder. If someone forced you, you might be able to ask for a reduced sentence…”
Charles‘ eyes lit up. “Yes, someone called me and told me to do this. They mentioned they had a personal issue with you and asked me to frame you.
“They offered me 800 thousand dollars, and I’ve already received 300 thousand dollars in my bank account. Greed got the best of me, and I gave in to temptation. That’s why I did it. I messed up.”
Charles hung his head and wept bitterly. Maybe he was crying over the legal consequences he would face or regretting the death of Eric.
The police came up to Charles, put handcuffs on him, and took him away. The reporters chased after Charles and redirected their attention from Sabrina to him, firing all the tough questions they could at him. The crowd around Sabrina had dispersed too.
The hospital staff, who didn’t speak up for Sabrina earlier, looked awkward. They said a few nice things and then hurried off.
Sabrina turned and locked eyes with a pair of deep, dark eyes. She stood there blankly for a moment.
