Chapter 58 I’m Not Your Ex–husband Yet
Linda reinarked, “You’re pretty good at hiding secrets, Sabrina.”
“It happened after I was adopted in Muglacia, Grandma, Jordan didn’t ask about it, so I didn’t bring it up.
Sabrina lilled Linda’s cup with coffee and continued, “Since I grew up as an orphan, I really long for a happy family. I want to be a dedicated housewife after getting married, so academic qualifications aren’t that important for me.”
“My friends who struggle with academics would be upset if they heard that, Sabrina.”
Education mattered a lot. Emily wanted to do well in school, but she just couldn’t get the hang of statistics.
Don’t worry. I’ll make sure you’re well
Linda took Sabrina’s hand and said, “You don’t need to push yourself so hard, especially since Jordan can provide for you. Don’t taken care of once you have the baby,”
Sabrina was at a loss for words. How did the conversation circle back to having a baby again?
“I need to use the bathroom.”
After Sabrina went upstairs, Jordan made an excuse to go up too. Just as Sabrina took out her phone to call Troy, the bedroom door swung open, and the tall Jordan walked in.
“You’re well aware of Grandma’s character, night? If you promise her something, she won’t stop until she gets what she wants.”
“What are you trying to say, Mr. Ford?”
“It’s just a friendly reminder. Don’t giv
give in to every request just to keep Grandma happy.”
Sabrina raised an eyebrow and snickered. “Have you forgotten, Mr. Ford? I wonder who just caved it in the car.”
“Well, I couldn’t let Grandma jump out of the car, right?
Linda.
Taking about this gave Jordan a headache. He rubbed his temples and realized that he could handle anyone in the Ford family except Li
As the phone rang, Sabrina looked down to check it before answering it. “Troy?”
“There’s a surgery this afternoon, and the patient specifically requested you to be the surgeon. Are you interested in coming over?”
Sabrina giggled. “Do people get to choose their surgeon now? You’re on your own, Troy. My ex–husband’s grandma is back, and I need to put on a show with him at the Ford residence.”
Jordan reached out to take her phone and held it up to his ear. “She said she’s busy. We need to get going now.” With that, Jordan ended the call. Sabrina gaped in surprise and took her phone back in dissatisfaction. “What are you doing, Jordan? Can’t you see I’m in the middle of a work call?” Jordan grimly said, “You don’t need to tell your boyfriend everything about our family, Sabrina. And quit calling me your ex–husband. I’m not one wet.” Watching Jordan turn and walk away, Sabrina was speechless and found it both amusing and exasperating. What was Jordan’s problem?
Sabrina then dialed Troy’s number again.
“Time to eat, Sabrina.” Emily walked in and gazed at Sabrina in awe. “You’re amazing, Sabrina. I really look up to you now. Can I come to you for advice if I need help in the future?”
“Jordan’s better than I am. Feel free to ask him for help.”
Sabrina didn’t intend to tur
to turn Emily down. But since her divorce from Jordan was inevitable, she wouldn’t be running into Emily that often in the future. Emily was unaware of Sabrina’s thoughts. She grabbed Sabrina’s arm and pouted. “Jordan can’t hold a candle to you, Sabrina, I’m switching majors and was feeling lost, but watching your surgery video made me feel like I’ve found my goal”
“Are you interested in studying medicine now?” Sabrina raised an eyebrow.
“Yes,”
“So, have you really thought about why you want to study medicine? It’s not just about looking cool, you know? And it’s not as simple as you might think Emily asked out of curiosity, “What made you study medicine in the first place, Sabrina?“
