Chapter 94 A Ploy of Feigned Suffering
Valerie felt a sense of dread in her heart, as if she were sinking into an abyss.
She bit her lip and immediately made a decision when she saw the indifference in Jordan’s eyes. “I’ll prove my innocence with my life if you don’t believe me…”
She hurled herself toward the edge of the table with such speed after saying that, before anyone could react.
Jordan’s eyes immediately darkened when she collapsed on the ground with blood streaming from a gash on her forehead. He rushed to her side and pulled her into his arms before he shouted, “Adrian, call the ambulance!”
Valerie weakly grasped his shirt by his chest when she looked up and saw the concem in his eyes. “Jordan, you have to believe me. I love you so much. I could never betray you. Is the trust between us so fragile and easily shattered? I don’t care if the whole world misunderstands me. but you…”
Her eyes were filled with sorrow. “I have no courage to live if you don’t believe me.”
“Stop saying that. I promise to get to the bottom of this and clear your name.” Jordan pressed his hand against her forehead, wearing a grave expression.
“Sabrina, what’s your ex–husband thinking? Has lust clouded his judgment? How can he still tolerate Valerie after everything?”
A simmering anger flared up within Zayn as he watched Jordan carry Valerie into the ambulance. He felt that Sabrina’s sacrifices in silence over the past three years had been in vain.
Anna chimed in and sneered, “That woman reeks of take innocence. She sure knows how to play the victim card! Sabrina, your gift didn’t seem to have the intended
effect”
Sabrina looked away indifferently. The gift was already delivered. It’s none of my concem anymore whether it works or not. That’s his choice if he wants to be a Tool
She felt she had done more than enough as his ex–wife out of consideration for their three years of mamage.
Lester had dredged up some explosive dirt on Valerie. However, Sabrina had chosen not to expose everything but to only send over the videos of her sleeping with other men. Jordan could easily unfold her past if he intended to investigate further.
She was curious to see how deep his love for Valerie truly can and to what extent he could tolerate her once he saw the filth and deceit hidden beneath her seemingly pure facade.
Would he remain committed to her or would his resolve finally falter?
“Sabrina, you’re being too kind to her! He might resent her for the rest of his life if he finds out after they’re mamed.”
No one can remain indifferent to the innocence of their partner. The only reason Jordan had committed to Valerie in the first place was because he believed he had taken her virginity which happened to be his first time too. This led him to feel responsible for her.
Jordan was a man with principle, discipline, and responsibility. It was impressive that he had stayed faithful and never slept with any woman for three years during Valerie’s recovery.
Valerie pretended to be unconscious in Jordan’s arms, but her mind was in turmoil. Thoughts raced in her head as she desperately tried to figure out how to regain his trust.
The doctor’s examination revealed that the wound on her forehead was quite serious and required stitches even though her brain was unharmed.
Valerie felt infuriated. She only intended to use a self–inflicted injury to distract Jordan and evoke his empathy. She hadn’t expected to misjudge her strength which led to the need for stitches and the possibility of leaving a scar.
She would’ve chosen a different approach if she had known this would be the outcome. She deeply regretted her decision.
Emily exclaimed anxiously outside the operating room, “Jordan, you’ve always been wise and smart. How could you let her tool you like this?”
Jordan’s eyes landed on her with a hint of scrutinization. “Why w
were you at the hotel today?”
She happened to be there especially right after the gift box arrived. How could there be such a coincidence?
Every coincidence seemed orchestrated instead of accidental to him.
