Chapter 22: I Quit
The piercing sun had awakened her that morning as she blinked her eyes open. and turned to the other side of the bed to avoid the ray of sunlight.
Amelia Sinclair felt energized but her rumbling stomach made her get the
feeling of a little weakness.
“Sister, you’re awake,” Ava said, full of smiles as she rose to her feet.
“Where am I?” Her voice was low as she asked her sister.
“Don’t ask questions. The doctor said you’ll be hungry when you’re awake so I made a lot of pancakes for you” Ava turned around to take the basket on the chair.
This was when Amelia felt a slight pain in her head and she remembered all that had happened the previous day.
“That man…” She mumbled gently, “Where is he?”
Meanwhile….
William had arrived at the office that morning to tell his Boss about quitting but wasn’t even given an opportunity to speak.
His boss had lashed out at him the moment he set his eyes on him.
“William, you picker of trash, how bold of you to show yourself at work today? I’ve halved your salary already and can decide not to even pay you for the month”
“Ethan, I-
“I’m not listening to any apologies from you. You intentionally ignored all your given routes yesterday, we got several complaints about our services. Do your know what that means for us?”
He indeed didn’t attend to his given route because of the unforeseen circumstances the previous day.
But it doesn’t even matter, he was here to resign.
“William, do you know I can fire you whenever I want?” Ethan was prepared to demonstrate his dominance as usual.

“I quit” William’s voice wasn’t loud but it was audible for everyone in the office at that time to hear.
Everyone’s attention was automatically gotten.
Even the customer care agents stopped taking their calls because of what they heard.
This was William Miller, the famous trash picker in the company.
Even when others are promoted to sit behind screens and work, he is left in his position of picking trash around the city.
“What did you just say?” Ethan was taken aback by shock.
There was no emotion on William’s face as he replied, “I don’t remember you being deaf, Ethan”
He had always endured the behavior of his Boss towards him because he had no other job to make his wife happy.
Tolerating his Boss was no longer an option.
Tracy had betrayed him and wants a divorce but more importantly, he has the wealth to buy his Boss‘ company.
Woah!
Everyone was shocked by the words of William.
“Isn’t that William? How dare he talk stupid to the Boss?”
“He must have a death wish”
“I heard he had been picking trash for four years and have never been. promoted” A younger woman giggled from the side with her other colleague.
Ethan’s face became distorted with rage as he roared. “How dare you call me by my name? I’m your Boss. If you don’t apologize right now, I’ll not pay you for the next three months. I might not even accept your apology”
He stood arrogantly, waiting for William to grovel at his feet and beg.
William had no other source of income so he definitely could not afford to offend him, so he thought.

William smiled coldly, “Now I really think you’re really deaf, Ethan”
“How dare you?” Ethan was now engulfed in rage, “You are nothing but a trash picker I employed so don’t think high of yourself now. I need to teach you a lesson, you trash picker?”
He rolled his sleeves and raised his hand to hit William but at that moment, a cold female voice rang in the building.
“I can have your hand cut off for that”
When everyone turned around, a stunning woman wearing high heels strode. into the office and she stood beside William who stared at her in surprise.
It was Amelia Sinclair.
“Who is that beautiful woman?”
“She looks familiar. Like someone you only see on the internet”
“I think she is a celebrity. I’ve seen her before”
“You don’t know Amelia Sinclair” One of the employees in the building explained to the others. “She is the eldest daughter of the Sinclair Family. I heard she is the CEO of Horizon Capital Holdings…..”
“Horizon Capital Holdings? Isn’t that the largest shareholding company here in New Spring” Someone exclaimed in shock.
The young woman nodded. “Yes, that’s why you can only see her on TV? She is a celebrity”
“OH Heaven, what could the goddess Amelia Sinclair be doing here? Perhaps she is interested in the service we offer here. Maybe she wants to partner with us”
Everyone’s hope was risen by this, but why was she standing close to the loser, William Miller?
