Chapter 41
As Celeste was drowning in her nervousness, Julian suddenly said, “Parental opposition won’t be a problem. When I decide that I want someone, they’re mine, and no one’s objections will matter.”
Celeste was shocked by how bossy he sounded.
Julian truly was something…
“But there are other reasons,” she quietly said.
Julian responded, “To me, reasons don’t matter. It’s only about whether you want it or hot.”
Celeste felt frustrated. Why was this going in circles?
In reality, Celeste wasn’t a stubbom person. When she liked someone, she was ready to face any obstacle and endure any challenge for them too. But after what happened five years ago, she had lost faith in her feelings.
If even her childhood friend, William, had turned her down, how could she still believe that other men would want her now?
And with someone like Julian, if he ever learned about her past and flaws, she didn’t know how he would react.
So, agreeing to his proposal was not an option.
At that moment, Celeste couldn’t bring herself to refuse Julian again because his expression was truly very scary. Hence, she decided to change the subject, “Um….. Mr. Ford, Sam’s asleep already, and it’s getting late. I should go now. You should get some rest too.”
Celeste stood up, ready to put Sam to bed.
However, Julian stopped her. “Take him to the next room. It’s too messy here. I’ll have someone come and clean up.”
Celeste quickly pulled her hand back, feeling embarrassed. “Oh, okay… Let’s go then.”
Then, she tumed around and avoided looking at him.
After that, Julian watched Celeste walk away in silence, his expression as dark as a stormy night.
It was his first time proposing, and being rejected would definitely cause a stir if people found out.
But Julian wasn’t angry.
After all, he believed that the woman he was interested in was meant to be exceptional. Not to mention, he also realized that his impulsiveness and lack of tact were to blame for the rejection too.
After taking a deep breath to calm down, he headed to the room next door.
This was Julian’s own bedroom.
It was big, decorated in darkcolors, and had a stylish look to it
There was a small bar, a liquor cabinet, a sofa, a coffee table, a large double bed, a walk–in closet, and a bathroom–basically, it was a fancy hotel suite. Celeste looked around the room.
This was just what she’d expected from someone rich
Celeste gently put Sam on the bed and tucked him in. Then, once she was done, she stretched and said, “Alright, he should be able to sleep peacefully now.” “Thank you for your help tonight,” Julian said as he observed her.
Celeste smiled and shook her head. “It’s nothing.
“Well I guess I’ll head out now?”
Upon seeing how eager she was to leave, Julian said, “It’s late. You should stay here tonight. Sleep in this room with Sam. I’ll use the guest room. I’m worried he might get sick from the cold water and air conditioning or that he might wake up and look for you.”
Celeste hesitated uncomfortably. “Uh… Do I really need to?”
This was Julian’s room after all. And that bed… It might have been used by him, which made things a bit awkward,
