Chapter 46
As Marcus was deep in thought, Louis hurried over to him and said, “Mr. Marcus, hello! I’m Louis Stone, the manager of Creative Solutions.”
Marcus sat up a little and casually replied, “Nice to meet you, Mr. Stone.”
Louis was nervously sweating, but he forced a smile anyway. “Mr. Marcus,
us, if I’d known you were coming, I would’ve made sure to give you a proper welcome.”
Marcus simply shrugged with a smile, “I was in the area and decided to check in on the project. Didn’t mean to catch you at a bad time. I wasn’t interrupting anything, was 1?”
Before Louis could say a word, William jumped in with a simile, “Of course not, Mr.
Mr. Marcus. You
You weren’t interrupting at all
Marcus looked at William like he was just another random guy. Then, he raised an eyebrow and asked, “Who are you?”
William froze. He hadn’t expected to be ignored like that.
He was used to people knowing who he was, especially in Dansburg. But Marcus Ford didn’t seem to care at all.
Stacy couldn’t believe it too. “You don’t know who William is?” she asked,
Marcus barely reacted and shrugged, “Should 1?”
William felt his face heat up in embarrassment. Then, he shot Stacy a look and quickly tried to smooth things over.
He said, “Mr. Marcus, it makes sense that you wouldn’t know me. You’re a busy man dealing with important things. But I’ve heard a lot about you and have always wanted to meet you.
“I didn’t think it’d happen today–it’s truly an honor.”
Marcus coldly said, “Oh.” He sounded distant and superior, and it reminded William of Julian
However, William stayed calm and polite. He said, “Mr. Marcus, I’m William Prescott, president of Prescott Group. Here’s my business card.”
“Oh, so you’re with Prescott Group.
Marcus glanced at the card but didn’t take it. He then said, “I’ve heard about the Prescott family’s talented young leader. People say he’s a big deal in Dansburg. with business skills on par with the Ford brothers
“I’ve been wanting to meet him, and it looks like today’s the day.”
William felt a bit stung by Marcus’s words. Even though Marcus sounded calm, there was a hint of mockery in his tone.
William felt his face grow hot and forced a laugh. “Mr. Marcus, you’re too kind. I can’t compare myself to you or Mr. Julian. You two are the real stars of Dansburg ”
Marcus listened to William speak with a blank expression, clearly uninterested. After all, why would Marcus ever need William’s approval?
Louis, sensing the awkwardness, quickly chimed in, “Mr. Marcus, you came to check in on the project, right? I’ll get the report for you right away.”
He hoped that Marcus would just look at the report and leave, so they could get back to their negotiation.
Marcus agreed, not wanting to waste any more time. “Sure, let’s make this quick. I have a meeting with the president of Facific Bank soon.”
So, Louis hunted off to get the report.
Meanwhile, William’s team began to grow nervous. They had barely talked, and now, Marcus was about to leave?
Frustrated, William quickly composed himself.
was time to get straight to business After all, a good proposal should grab Marcus’s attention.
