“Why?” Marcus was startled. E
Everything had been just fine between Julian and Celeste. Why would she cut all ties with julian? Could it be that Julian’s charm had wom out, so much so that Celeste would male such a decision? That seemed serious! It was no wonder Julian seemed so irritable today.
Julian was silent for a while as he stubbed out his cigarette. After a pause, he slowly said, “It may have something to do with her past.”
“Her past?” Marcus frowned. “What about it?”
julian told him what happened last night.
After listening to him, Marcus sprung to his feet. “Don’t worry, Julian. Leave this to me. I’ll find out what exactly happened to Celeste before this.”
Ashe spoke, he tumed to leave. However, Julian stopped him. “Don’t do that. Don’t investigate her background without my permission.”
Marcus felt his heart skip a beat. The thing was that he had already done that before. After a slight hesitation, he admitted, “Julian, I’ve actually looked into Celeste’s family background and her past before this. “
Julian frowned slightly upon hearing this.
Marcus continued, “Nothing stood out in her past, but… six years ago, she went missing for an entire year. There seems to be only a handful who knows about what she’s been up to during then. I didn’t really care about it, so I didn’t look into it any further.”
Upon hearing that, Julian’s eyes flickered. Celeste was missing for a year? It seemed to him now that the event she was unwilling to talk about might have happened during that period.
He remained silent. Marcus spoke up again. “Julian, even though not many know about it, we’ll still find out something if we want to.‘
The Ford family was influential. There was nothing they couldn’t find out.
Julian’s expression tumed glum. He coldly said, “Don’t do it.”
Startled, Marcus dared not say anything else as he studied Julian’s expression “Alright, alright. I won’t do it since you’ve said so.”
He was puzzled. Julian seemed keen to low about Celeste’s past, but why wouldn’t he allow Marcus to investigate it? Wouldn’t Julian and Celeste be able to reconcile if they found the problem and solved it?
