Chapter 84
Samuel looked down and sighed. “I can’t fall asleep if Dad doesn’t come back to tell me a story,”
“Huh?” Taken aback, Celeste glanced at Julian’s room. “But your dad is drunk and already asleep”
Instead of being upset by the news, Samuel seemed even happier. He tugged at Celeste’s hand in pleaded in a soft voice, “Could you tell me a story then, Ms. Hart?”
Celeste hesitated and felt conflicted.
Sensing her hesitation, Samuel continued in his pitiful tone, “If no one tells me a story, I won’t be able to sleep, and won’t do well in class tomorrow.”
Celeste looked at Julian’s room. He was still out cold. Celeste had no other choice but to sigh and agree to the request.
“Alright, I’ll tell you a story.
“I knew you’re the best!” Thrilled, Samuel led Celeste into his ro
toom.
Once inside, Samuel lay down with him on the bed and picked up a children’s book from the side to start telling a story,
Samuel nestled in his arms, smiling happily, Celeste couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you so happy?”
“Because I get to see you before bed!”
Celeste couldn’t help smiling. She could tell that Samuel liked her because he was probably missing maternal love. As she thought about it, she grew curious about who his mother was.
She didn’t dwell on it for long and continued telling the story, her gentle voice filling the room.
Celeste had planned to leave after putting Samuel to sleep and figured there was no nish. But as she continued telling the story, she drifted off along with Samuel falling asleep without realizing it,
Late at night, the door to the room quietly opened.
Julian entered. The room was dim, but under the soft glow of the moonlight streaming through the window, he saw the two of them sleeping soundly together. His expression softened.
After watching them for a while, Julian covered them with a blanket. He then leaned down and planted aldsson Celeste’s cheek betoge quietly leaving the room.
Celeste woke up early the next morning. She rubbed her eyes, and as her surroundings came into focus, she was stunned,
She was in Samuel’s room! What happened?
Celeste’s mind went blank for a few seconds before she realized that she i must have accidentally fallen asleep last night.
Samuel was still asleep. Celeste quietly got out of bed and put on her shoes. It was still early, so hopefully Julian wasn’t awake vet.
She wasn’t ready to face him, especially after the awkwardness of last night. The thought of falling asleep in Samuel’s room was killing her.
She hurriedly left the room, but as luck would have it, she ran into Julian just as she reached the stairs.
Julian was dressed in a white shirt with a playful smile on his handsome face as he looked at her. He asked in a deep, magnetic voice, “You’re up so early and rushing off, What’s the hurry?”
Caught trying to sneak away, Celeste blushed deeply. She stammered, “Uh, you were drunk last night, and Marcus couldn’t take you home. I happened to run into
you, so L.”
“There’s no need to explain. Marcus already told me everything.”
Julian didn’t bring up last night’s events any further. He pressed his lips together and said, “Since you’re up, have breakfast. I’ll take you home afterward.”
Celeste cautiously glanced at him. It seemed like he had forgotten about what happened in the parking lot yesterday. She felt a little frustrated but also relieved. Now that she was caught, Celeste decided not to leave and obediently sat at the dining table to eat breakfast.
Seeing this, Julian smiled slightly.
