Chapter 11: A Tricky Kidnapping Case
The student on the other end of the phone repeatedly apologized and hinted,” This call is from the west side of City A. Could you come and check it out? The person who received it is already on their way.”
The west side of City A?
Decker’s tone softened. Since it was from a wealthy area, it was worth a visit. This student had good instincts.
Although Decker said he would leave immediately, the driver who went to pick up the person called back, reporting that no one came out of the house.
Robertson’s face darkened with anger.
He glanced at the boss, and in that brief eye contact, the fate of some people had already changed.
At that moment, a sudden phone call interrupted them.
“Prepare sixty–five thousand and place it in the trash bin by the pond in Annalica Park. You have half an hour.”
The electronic synthesized voice finished and hung up.
“What? Half an hour?”
“This clearly knows the Norman family’s exact location. Annalica Park is only five or six minutes‘ drive from here,” said a police officer.
“Have you pulled up the surveillance from the south area?” asked an agent.
Another officer smiled wryly, “Agent, you know the streetlights in the south.
area are broken and haven’t been fixed. The surveillance cameras too…”
Immediately, everyone fell silent.
In Q Country, all public services only catered to the wealthy. If the streetlights and surveillance in the west or north areas were broken, the city government would send someone to fix them the next day.
This had become an unwritten rule.
The police were at a loss.
The clues left at the scene included tire tracks, a cross–shaped necklace found by the roadside, and a handkerchief soaked in a drug used for masking.
Assistant Barton hurried forward, introducing witness Irene to the police and Robertson.
Irene looked at the photos scattered on the coffee table from the crime scene, deep in thought.
The photos included a close–up of the cross–shaped necklace. Inside the cross, there was a strange symbol, resembling a ritual pattern of a satanic cult, but with subtle differences.
It looked familiar.
After a few seconds, Irene realized.
She had seen it on someone in the south area.
And wasn’t this the symbol of the Gibson Mercenary Group?
The Gibson Mercenary Group hadn’t been active for a long time, rarely taking jobs. A few years ago, there were rumors that the current leader went mad and shot all the members. Eventually, the dark web assumed the group had disappeared.
So why was their symbol showing up now?
Irene pointed at the photo. “I’ve seen that van Barton mentioned and this necklace.”
The agent turned, seeing a young girl with an elegant demeanor, beautiful but as cold as ice. Her eyes were striking, but when she stared at people, her gaze felt like crystal–clear marbles, making others uneasy.
“You’re the witness? Come here!”
From Irene, the agent learned the direction the vehicle headed. Just as the agent was about to ask the police to check the surveillance near the south exit, an arrogant voice interrupted.
“Who are you inviting in here?”
“It’s you again! A greedy girl won’t receive the favor of fate!”
Decker had arrived. Seeing Irene, he frowned. “Can’t get money, so you’re here. to com?
Bodyguards! Get her out!”
The bodyguards exchanged hesitant looks.
“This is a misunderstanding. This girl is a witness, here to help with the case,” Barton explained with a forced smile.
Decker snorted, turning to the state police. “The FBI is handling this now. You don’t need to help anymore. Just give us all the information.”
The agent frowned. “Sir, you don’t understand enough about this case yet. From our conversation with the witness, we preliminarily determined this is the work of a gang based in City A. You…”
“That’s not your concern.”
Decker lifted his chin, expressionless. “You just need to hand over all the information.”
The agent gritted his teeth but, pressured by law, reluctantly handed over the investigation data to Decker.
Unexpectedly, Decker glanced at the files and casually tossed them, scattering the meticulously gathered documents across the floor.
“What are you doing? You’re a policeman! How can you disregard the victims. like this?”
Assistant Barton, enraged, shouted.
Though he had heard of Decker’s unreliability, witnessing his arrogant and leisurely attitude firsthand made Barton’s veins throb in anger.
Not to mention Robertson and the other young masters.
The hot–tempered sixth young master stood up, fists clenched, but his brothers barely held him back.
Decker looked at them with disdain.
He had met many wealthy families in City A, but never this one, indicating they were nouveau riche. Only suddenly wealthy families would have so many
children.
“This witness has offended me. I don’t like her. I’ll help you if she apologizes and leaves without any compensation!”
“Apologize?
Assistant Barton was astounded.
Though merely a small assistant in the Norman family’s business, he was respected by big company owners and chairmen. He had never been humiliated like this!
If Barton felt that way, the Norman family members felt it even more strongly.
For a moment, the brothers holding the sixth young master almost let go.
At worst, they would beat him up together and pay some compensation!
Just as Decker managed to offend both the state police and the Norman family, Irene, who had been silent, seemingly playing with her phone, suddenly spoke, “I know where they are hiding!”
Faced with the rude FBI leader and the ordinary witness girl, the Norman family initially found both unreliable.
But the girl’s firm tone and bright eyes made Robertson say, “Young lady, tell

Decker sneered. “You can’t believe a lying girl from the slums could figure this. out, right? Are we filming a detective show?”
Although the agent had no objections to Irene, he found the case challenging. even with his experience, let alone a young girl.
However, more opinions might bring more hope, so the agent said nothing.
“They’re still in the south area.”
Irene’s calm voice and slight smile, as her pale fingers gently caressed her phone, left everyone stunned.
