Chapter 13: Decker’s Recklessness
“Agent, I’m not trying to belittle you, but you need to explain why,” Decker said, his expression slightly changing. He still didn’t believe Irene was right.
“Because the Red House by the Soss River is in the south area!” the agent said firmly, pointing to a marked location on the map with a red pen.
Decker’s face completely changed. He muttered, “What… how is this possible? She was right!”
Decker had mentally dismissed Irene, belittling her to the ground. But he knew that from the moment she saw the van, in that brief second, Irene had remembered so much information and, upon arriving at the Norman house, had deduced so many correct conclusions in just ten minutes. This exceptionally rare level of deductive ability.

All the police officers geared up, and Assistant Barton prepared the ransom money as the kidnappers had demanded.
Immediately, everyone set off!
Decker noticed the hostile glares from Sixth Young Master Mom and the Norman family head, Robertson, and quickly said, “I’m going too. We can’t let that inexperienced girl mess things up!”
He took his students and jumped into a police car.
A few minutes later, the police arrived in the south area.
As expected, a gathering was in full swing, with a car burning in flames and chaotic screams and whistles everywhere.
The police officers‘ temples throbbed in anger, and some wanted to disperse the crowd immediately.
Irene stopped them, calmly saying, “I know a small path we can take. If the gathering ends early, the kidnappers will know the police are here.”
The agent agreed with Irene’s suggestion.
Following Irene, the police arrived at the abandoned brewery.
The area was pitch dark and silent, with only the sounds of the forest and
flapping birds clearly audible.
*You must have made a wrong judgment! There’s no one here!” Decker whispered mockingly.
Irene ignored him and turned to the agent. “Look over there, isn’t that a white van?”
The agent followed Irene’s direction and, sure enough, saw a van’s wheel partially hidden by the bushes at the edge of the brewery and forest.
A regular person wouldn’t have noticed it easily.
A police officer cautiously approached with his gun drawn, then signaled the
agent.
It was indeed the van!
At this point, Decker’s face felt as if it had been slapped repeatedly, burning with shame.
The agent led the SWAT team and police inside, successfully rescuing Palmer. Fortunately, the kidnappers were inexperienced, which made things easier for the police.
Palmer was bruised but alive, clearly having been “disciplined” by the kidnappers.
An ambulance was called, and as the paramedics lifted Palmer onto the stretcher, he groggily opened his eyes and saw Irene. He murmured, “Is that you, sister?”
Summoning strength from somewhere, he grabbed Irene’s hand.
A nurse screamed.
Decker sneered. Even if they rescued the person, what then? A slum girl hoping to connect with the Norman family?
Thinking this, Decker felt a bit better.
Meanwhile.
A silver–gray luxury car pulled up in front of the police station.
First out were two senior FBI officials and the police captain. After getting out,

they stood by as the driver opened the door for the last person,
This person wore a well–tailored suit, had blonde hair, and fair skin. But no one mistook him for a pampered playboy because beneath his refined appearance were cold, authoritative eyes.
As he stepped out, the surrounding air seemed to grow heavier.
This man was extremely cold. Even when looking at others, his blue eyes. seemed like endless skies, reflecting no one’s image.
“What’s the status?” he asked.
One FBI agent, barely restraining from wiping his sweat, said, “Rest assured, sir. We’ve called the most experienced and available people in City A to assist the police. However, we’re unsure how well the police will cooperate.”
The man gave a cold glance, prompting another FBI agent to quickly add, “No problem! Decker has been with the FBI for over twenty years, solving countless major cases. With him on board, we guarantee Norman’s safety!”
This person, commanding such respect from the FBI, was none other than Stefan, who controlled a significant portion of Q Country’s economy.
Technically, the FBI shouldn’t fear Stefan, but he also had sponsors in the government. Moreover, a large part of the FBI’s funding and resources came.
from Stefan.
Faced with such a “golden sponsor,” even the FBI Director wouldn’t dare to offend him easily.
Stefan slowly adjusted his watch, his expression lowering slightly. “The information I received says otherwise.”
“This, we assure you! Decker’s abilities are well recognized. We’ve sent our best! There won’t be any issues!” the FBI agent stammered.
After enjoying the FBI’s discomfort, the police captain spoke up. “Sir, my agent just reported that the hostage has been successfully rescued.”
The FBI glared at the captain.
Why didn’t you say that earlier?
Stefan raised an eyebrow, nodded, and followed Assistant Barton into the villa.
The rivalry between state police and the FBI had existed since the FBI’s establishment. It was still unclear who actually solved this case.
Inside the police station, the FBI agents were stunned.
Why was Decker standing there like a fool? Shouldn’t he be in the interrogation. room questioning the suspects?
Stefan also stopped, his gaze falling on Decker. His voice was calm. “Can someone explain this? If Decker is here, who solved the case?”
Through the transparent window of the interrogation room, they saw a tall girl and an agent inside. The agent asked questions, and the girl answered confidently, making the suspect nervous and speechless.
“She… she…” The FBI agents were speechless, unable to provide a reasonable explanation.
They grabbed Decker, whispering angrily, “Why aren’t you inside? Why is a girl interrogating?”
Decker felt bitter.
He knew things were bad. Seeing the FBI, he could only say, “I was just about to report! The agent broke the rules! The interrogation room isn’t for outsiders, let alone letting one solve the case!”
The FBI agent’s eyes blazed with anger. “What? You didn’t solve the case?”
Decker forced a smile. “The captain has a good agent.”
“I heard the witness deduced the case,” a deep voice interrupted. The FBI agents fell silent, and Decker, without turning, mocked, “Your brain isn’t even fit for zombies to eat! A girl? Deductions? What a joke! It was a team effort!”
“This ‘team‘ didn’t include you, did it?”
Who dared to disrespect Decker like this? Decker turned angrily and saw a young man.
