Chapter 14: A Subtle Chemistry
“Who are you? Oh, I get it, you’re that little girl’s sugar daddy, right?” Decker sneered. “The FBI is just here to assist. You have no authority over me!”
The young man’smirked. “Your recommended person is quite amusing.”
The FBI agent was about to lose his mind. He pulled Decker aside, whispering harshly, “Are you crazy? That’s Stefan! How can you talk to him like that!”
Stefan…
The name hit Decker like a bomb, leaving him dizzy and cold with sweat. He collapsed to the ground.
“How… how could this be! It’s just the Norman family business, how is he involved?”
“Just the Norman family? Do you know who the Norman family is? Do you realize that Stefan and the Normans practically hold up half of Q Country’s economy? You blew a golden opportunity to gain immense wealth! Useless!”
The FBI agent, fuming, turned to apologize to Stefan.
Decker was still on probation, and the FBI pinned all the blame on him.
“We deeply apologize, Mr. Stefan. We were unaware of Decker’s true nature. He has betrayed our trust and the great Federation of Q Country! We didn’t know he was still on probation; otherwise, we would never have recommended him. to you!”
Hearing this, Decker’s regret grew overwhelming.
“A convict still on probation? He shouldn’t be running around freely,” Stefan said coldly.
Decker nearly spat blood.
The FBI wanted him gone, calling for someone to escort him out.
It’s over… all over…
After spending so much money and even sacrificing a multi–million dollar collection, was he really going back to prison?
The more Decker thought about it, the more desperate he became. His eyes closed, and he fainted.
But no one cared about Decker.
In the interrogation room, Irene and the agent finished the questioning, exchanged smiles, and Irene glanced at the glass, locking eyes with Stefan.
This wasn’t Irene’s first time seeing Stefan.
But this time, something felt different.
Stefan stood there relaxed, back straight, his blue eyes sparkling like beautiful sapphires under the dim interrogation room light. His handsome face
resembled a marble sculpture, like a deity’s favorite creation.
Irene had felt someone watching her from the start.
And it was a handsome man.
She licked her lips unconsciously.
How did she miss that Marta had such a good–looking brother when she left in a hurry before?
Seeing the girl’s open admiration, Stefan’s eyes curved slightly.
Wasn’t this the girl who saved his sister?
Their gazes met, creating a subtle chemistry.
For some reason, neither looked away.
Especially Irene, her gaze was bold and uninhibited, moving from his face to his Adam’s apple, down his straight suit, to his long legs wrapped in suit pants, and back to his face.
Irene had seen many good–looking men.
Emil was one of her targets.
But whether it was Emil or any previous men she liked, none could compare to the man before her.
His holy face, perfectly paired with pure blue eyes, didn’t reflect any sanctity in his gaze.
His hands had rough calluses, not matching the serene beauty of his face, exuding a dangerous aura. This contradictory allure fascinated Irene.
She regretted not noticing him earlier.
This man was like an ancient noble, impeccably dressed, yet ready to toss aside his gloves and engage in a bloody duel.
The FBI, having dealt with Decker, returned.
Their respectful demeanor towards the man raised Irene’s eyebrows.
The agent stood up and left. The next moment, Stefan asked, “Did you meet in the south area, Miss Witness?”
“Yes! Miss Witness has incredible deductive skills! She even graduated from a special training camp with honors!” the agent praised Irene excitedly.
Stéfan’s gaze grew more curious, wanting to ask more.
At that moment, Irene finished the last inquiry, organized the case files, and
walked out.
Stefan looked at her, smiling. “Miss Irene, hello. Marta misses you. She wanted to visit you yesterday.”
Irene smiled back. “How is Miss Marta? I miss her too.”
“She’s recovering well, thanks to you for rescuing her from the kidnappers.”
“Miss Irene, you’re truly talented! Interested in working at the police station?” the agent interjected. “During the operation, Miss Irene subdued several kidnappers on her own! She’s as good as the SWAT team we called!”
“Yes! Miss Irene is amazing!”
“If only you could teach us a few moves!”
“Right! Capturing criminals, they always think women are easy targets. If I were as skilled as Miss Irene, that would be great!”
“Miss Irene, can you teach us a few moves?”
A female officer couldn’t resist asking, her eyes shining with admiration.
Irene, seeing the eager officers, especially the women, couldn’t refuse.
“Of course.”
The officers cheered.
They had speculated that Irene might be the daughter of a retired soldier or a relative of a martial arts champion, unlikely to share her exclusive skills easily.
Unexpectedly, Irene agreed so readily!
Standing on the periphery, Stefan watched with interest. He, too, was curious about Irene’s skills, having heard how she saved Marta.
The FBI, always astute, noticed Stefan’s interest in Irene, quietly sighed in relief, and discreetly avoided disturbing him.
The officers exchanged glances.
A top CEO, influential enough to shake half of Q Country, attending a self- defense class? They were speechless.
ust then, Irene stood in the middle of the crowd, took off her cumbersome oat, and stretched her wrists. “Now we need someone to play the suspect.
efore the officers could volunteer, Irene’s eyes landed on Stefan.
he FBI and police officers were stunned, then looked at Irene with admiration. iss Irene was truly brave! No wonder she was so skilled at martial arts!
