Chapter 30: Is Irene’s Invitation Fake?
Decker’s forehead veins pulsed visibly.
He had never seen someone as foolish as Holt, unable to out–argue a young
girl in front of everyone.
Decker took a deep breath and looked at Irene with an ostensibly amiable
expression: “You are Dora Arnold’s granddaughter. Although your grandmother made some mistakes, she was still a respectable person. Young lady, I hope you do not disappoint her expectations of y
The expressions of the people around them turned peculiar.
They were all part of the detective circle and knew Dora Arnold well.
Or perhaps now, they should call her Dora Arnold–Kashi.
“Is she the granddaughter of that detective who caused someone’s death?”
“It’s all that old woman’s fault! My grandfather stopped receiving any private
detective commissions because of her!”
“What’s she doing here?”
“No way, did Mosinaghan even send an invitation to that family? I don’t want to participate anymore.”
“Great, if you don’t want to participate, give me your invitation. I want my family to come and visit.”
The previous speaker fell silent.
After a few seconds, someone sneered: “Her invitation must be fake, right?”
“I bet it’s stolen.”
Irene scanned the surroundings, noting the looks of disgust and rejection from
everyone.
Her eyes darkened, stirring some unpleasant memories.
When she felt bad, some people were bound to have a bad day.
This was exactly what Decker wanted.
Initially. Decker had intentionally sent a fake invitation to embarrass Madame Kashi But since the old lady didn’t come making her granddaughter lose face would be just as satisfying!
After all, her granddaughter had obstructed Decker’s plans many times!
Serves her right!
Decker lifted his chin, a smile playing on his lips, anticipating the comedy of Irene presenting a fake invitation.
The security guards were professional.ey neither agreed with Decker nor pitied Irene. They followed procedure: “Miss, it’s your turn to check your invitation.”
Seeing Decker’s expression and Helen’s gloating look, Irene had already guessed there was a problem with the invitation.
However, Irene didn’t feel afraid.
If it was fake, she would expose Decker for taking credit for her work.
She handed over the invitation calmly.
After scanning it with their device, the security guards‘ expressions changed. “Indeed, it’s fake.”
“I knew it, look at her shabby outfit, no way it’s genuine.”
“Is there really an issue? She’s quite good–looking but such a waste.”
Holt laughed: “You and your grandmother are the same, one caused deaths, the other is a fraud!”
“Young lady, I understand your desire to participate in the detective competition, but that’s no excuse for forging an invitation. No matter how talented a person is, if their character is flawed, they are still rotten.”
Decker assumed a senior’s posture, lecturing Irene.
Irene’s eyes turned cold as she looked at Decker.
So, you knew.
The crowd’s murmurs grew louder, and a security guard pulled out a walkio
talkie Suddenly, someone in the crowd shouted.
“Such scum shouldn’t be allowed in!”
“Forging an invitation is shameful!!
Just as Irene was about to reveal Decker’s evidence, the two security guards suddenly bowed at ninety degrees: “Please, come in, Miss Irene!”
One of them even stepped forward to carry Irene’s backpack.
Even though it wasn’t heavy at all.
The crowd seemed to freeze, with no sound at all.
The security guards‘ actions felt like a bucket of cold water over Decker and his companions, making them feel chills despite the summer heat.
“It’s your first time at the mansion, feel free to call me if you’d like to visit any area. I am at your service anytime.”
The crowd was in an uproar.
Previous guests had just had their invitations checked and went straight in, led by maids. They hadn’t seen anyone escorted by security guards and allowed to go wherever they wanted!
The other security guard sternly dispersed the crowd, urging them to complete the checks quickly.
His palms were sweaty.
They knew ordinary invitations had some weight for appearance’s sake. But the rare and precious invitations were lighter, containing a chip and made of military–grade materials with a locator. If lost, they could be found through
various means.
Not to mention, Harper, who was close to the boss, had informed them through the walkie–talkie to treat anyone named Irene with a rare invitation with the highest courtesy.
This was the boss’s instruction.
Even Miss Marta had inquired if anyone named Irene had arrived just a few minutes ago.
How could the excurity not take it seriously?
As trene walked, she suddenly stopped.
The security guard’s heart skipped a beat, wondering if he had done something.
wrong
“Miss trene, is there anything else you need?
Irene shook her head, looking at Decker with mockery in her beautiful eyes.
Decker’s expression was ugly, resembling a dead person. He stared intently at the invitation in the security guard’s hand.
Undoubtedly, Irene was extremely clever.
Reflecting on the past few days, only Stefan and Emil had the opportunity to access this invitation, no one else.
Indeed.
How could he not get an invitation to a competition held at his own home?
Irene relaxed a bit, smiling lightly.
It seemed Stefan had a good impression of her. He was willing to help her, and she should thank him properly in the future.
Irene pinched her chin.
Maybe she should start by helping him solve his first case perfectly.
At worst, she could offer him some discounts under the name of the
mercenary group.
“No, thank you.”
The security guards were extremely enthusiastic, making the surrounding people feel numb.
Decker couldn’t stand being looked down upon.
He gritted his teeth and questioned: “Are you sure that’s her invitation?”
Joanna tried to pull Helen back several times but failed. Helen eventually shouted: “How could she get an invitation? You must have made a mistake!”
The security guards turned, regaining their indifferent attitude towards Decker and his group.
Helen was stunned, and Joanna finally pulled her back.
Joanna tightly held Helen’s hand. “Mom, keep your voice down, this is the Mosinaghan mansion.”
Helen finally shut her mouth.
She stopped talking, but Holt didn’t have the same sense: “You let a fraud in, will you take responsibility if something happens?”
The security guard replied coldly: “Sir, watch our language. Are you
questioning the Mosinaghan family’s ability to recognize their own invitations?”
These words were severe.
Decker initially wanted to say something, but he fell silent after hearing this.
Holt continued to rage: “You’re just a bunch of lowly ants! You… ah!”
Before he could finish, the security guards subdued Holt.
Even Holt, who had undergone FBI training, didn’t react in time, making Decker’s eyelids twitch.
These security guards were not ordinary!
The ones who acted had the style of special forces!
“Take him away!”
“Teacher! Teacher!”
Holt struggled but couldn’t overcome the security’s strength. He pleaded with. Decker, who responded coldly.
“I warned you before not to be too reckless. You ignored my advice, so I can’t teach you anymore.”
Holt’s heart sank.
His parents had nearly spent their life’s savings to get him into the FBI!
Now, Decker was abandoning him to avoid offending the Mosinaghan family guards?
Why!
Irene ignored the commotion.
To her, Holt might be a victim, but having someone with such poor skills in the FBI was a misfortune for others.
Moreover, her target had always been clear.
Decker!
