Chapter 56: That’s Three Million
On the other end of the phone, Helen lifted her head smugly. An old woman trying to best her? Impossible!
“What do you mean by “being ruthless‘?”
At that moment, cold, familiar voice cut in, making Helen Jump like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
Helen selked, “trene! I’ve been more than kind to you! 1 raised you for so many years, and you still side with her? This is my last warming: stay away from us!”
With that, Helen angrily hung up the phone..
She looked at her reflection in the mirror, a well–maintained, beautiful woman, and flashed a satisfied smile.
She had pretended to ardously call and war Madame Kashi, but in reality, she didn’t take the two women seriously.
One was an old woman nearing her end, the other a student who hadn’t even graduated
Both were broke
How could they possibly open an agency?
As long as she didn’t permit it, who in city & would risk offending her to lend money to that old bag?
Back at the small courtyard, Madame Kashi forced a smile to comfort Irene, “It’s alright, don’t worry. Grandma won’t let her succeed. We will open the agency, and Emma will go back to school.”
But before she could finish, another call came in.
Madame Kashi held the phone to her ear in silence.
Irene, sitting close by, could clearly hear the conversation.
The person on the line said that the David family had recently made many investments and needed money, so they couldn’t lend any to Madame Kashi
Madame Kashi amiled and replied, “okay, thank you.”
The person on the other end seemed reluctant and advised, “Madame Kashi, maybe you shouldn’t start the agency. If you need a small amount, like ten thousand, could help sectly, but you’re asking for too much now.”
Though Madame Kashi’s voice sounded fine, her head bowed slightly
Having lived so long, she saw through many things.
The person mentioned helping secretly, which meant Helen had already spoken to him
The caller was clearly in a didnot position
For them, a few thousand wasn’t a big deal, but Helen had every forceful in her words.
They couldn’t risk offending the head of the Kashi family for an old woman.
What unfilial childern
Irene watched as Madame Kashi tried to hide her disappointment, her heart aching.
Her gaze turned cold and fierce, her eyes shining brightly in the dark.
Emma clenched her hands tightly, her pretty face full of anger.
Trene handed Emma a fork with a piece of chicken on it, “They’ve got a death wish.”
Emma happily took it and stopped worrying about the matter.
Madame Kachi couldn’t understand their behavior but felt happy, “Emma and Irene are such good ldds, caring for Grandma.”
Emma nodded vigorously!
Irene smiled, her words carrying a deeper meaning, “No fighting, Fighting gets you into the police station. But we can make them suffer,”
“The more they don’t want us to open the agency, the mour we must open it.”
Madame Kashi sighed.
ime was right, but there was a big problem in reality: no money.
Teene’s pale fingers lightly tapped on her phone screen a few times and then showed it to Madame Kashi
Madame Kashi asked, puzzled, “What’s this?”
Irene smiled, “Grandma, look. This is the money I’ve earned from working over the years.”
Of course, the account balance Irene showed was only from the payment she received for completing Stefan’s job. If she showed her entire balance, Madame Kashi might be scared out of her wits
Madame Kashi put on herreading t classes and looked carefully. Then she gasped, “Is this… three million?”
Ime nodded, “Yes, Grandina.”
The old lady was stunned by the amount of money and asked, “Can you really eam that much from working?
Irene nodded, “Yes, help wealthy people handle private matters. That’s how I met that friend from before.” Madame kashi grabbed tree’s hand, “You mustn’t do anything illegal!”
Chapter 56 Thats Three
Irene couldn’t help but laugh, “I won’t, Grandma. I’m basically doing private detective work.”
Madame Kashi’s face brightened, the earlier gloom completely gone, filled with hope for the future, “Wonderful! with this three million, we can definitely open the agency!”
Seeing Madame Kashi’s happiness, a smile spread across Irene’s face, “Grandma, we’ll make even more money in the future.”
“Good! Good!”
Just thinking about the future made Madame Kashi so excited she trembled as she spoke
She had lived most of her life. In her youth, she was stubbom and naive, unaware of people’s hearts. In old age, the beliefs of her younger days had long faded. Her unfilial son and daughter–in–law made life seem pointless.
Had it not been for little Irene running around, bringing joy, perhaps Madame Kashi would have long lost the will to live.
She never thought that in the twilight of her life, she would have the chance to reopen a detective agency.
Madame Kashi, deep in thought, felt a tear slide down her cheek.
Irene pretended not to see it. Watching the delighted old lady, Irene was also overjoyed.
The old lady hadn’t been this happy in a long time.
Though she used to smile, it wasn’t genuine.
As for others, they could be dealt with slowly.
Grandma’s happiness was the most important.
As the night deepened, Irene locked the courtyard gate and bolted it.
Returning to the house, Madame Kashi was still awake.
Usually, she would have been asleep by now.
But tonight, she was full of energy, rummaging through cabinets, taking out old detective certifications and awards.
She laughed and shared her past experiences with Irene and Emma.
Irene listened with a helpless smile, while Emma, leaning against Irene, was lulled to sleep
Madame Kashi’s enthusiasm lasted until around eleven.
When Madame Kashi finally turned off the lights to sleep, Irene wokri
Emmsa, still groggy, asked, “Is it time to act? Those who bullied Grandma are so mean!”
Irene watched Emma scratching her head and said, “Grandma was very happy tonight. Let’s start by opening the oftion.
Irene patted Emma’s head, “You can set up the equipment we prepared yesterday
(excitedly said, “wlright?”
Soon, she was climbing trees and mottops like a numble monkey, installing cameras and other devices
