Chapter 8 Disappearance and Corruption
“Are you sure Irene lives here?”
The third brother slightly lowered the car window, frowning as he saw the gangsters outside eyeing the car greedily
“Assistant Barton, are you sure you got it right?”
With that question, the sharp gaze of Robertson, the patriarch of the Norman family, fell on Barton.
Barton wiped the sweat from his forehead. “Absolutely certain, Third Young Master. Miss Irene does live here. But… the people here are very hostile to outsiders. As soon as we arrived, we were watched, and nobody would answer
our questions.”
“However, I found out that it was the chairman of Kashi Pharmaceuticals who took Miss Irene by mistake years ago. I’ll go ask the Kashi family for more details right away!”
With that, Barton hurriedly got out of the car to make a call.
“Grandpa, you should go back. I’ll stay here and wait for the results,” said the seventh brother, Palmer Norman. “Big brother, you and the others have work to do. The general manager has called several times already.”
Phone calls kept coming, one after another, like a relentless alarm.
Robertson sighed heavily. “Call me immediately once you have any news. We’ll go.”
The luxury car drove off.
Palmer got out and prepared to sit in the car Barton had driven.
At that moment, a chloroform–soaked handkerchief suddenly covered his nose and mouth. Barton, turning back and seeing this, widened his eyes in horror. Dropping his phone, he wildly flailed his arms, shouting, “Help! Help!”
But two legs can’t outrun four wheels.
Barton could only watch as several burly men lifted Palmer into a dilapidated white van, which soon disappeared into the distance, leaving a trail of exhaust
fumes.
pance and Conlapton
Irene and Emil were chatting as a white van passed them.
trene glanced at the van suspiciously.
No license plate, bullet holes in the body–this wasn’t a vehicle from the South
District.
Never mind, it’s not her problem.
The young people who had participated in the robbery of the Kashi family were friends with Emil, and some were even his rivals.
When Emil’s friends found out that Irene knew Emil, they cheered, thinking their leader had found strong backing.
They crowded around Irene, inviting her to a party.
At the party, Emil took out the bag full of treasures looted from the Kashi family.
“Everyone, quiet down!”
Emil sat on the couch, the bag at his feet revealing glittering gold and dazzling gemstone jewelry.
“This is the result of our collective effort! Irene said she doesn’t want any of it! It’s all ours!”
The small room erupted with blaring electronic music, and the crowd raised their bottles in celebration, whistling and cheering wildly.
“Now, we’ll divide it based on our contributions!”
Irene sat on the couch, sipping her drink, watching Emil distribute the loot with a smile.
The curly–haired youth laughed heartily, full of youthful exuberance and brash energy.

At the Kashi family villa.
The atmosphere was tense. Decker had found his student in a sewer, bedraggled and disheveled. Kashi’s plans were facing a crisis before they could even succeed, putting Kashi in a foul mood as he answered the phone.
Chaps & Bhaerarance and Corruption.

“I told you, don’t bother me unless It’s Important!”
Kashi growled, then frowned. “What? Irene’s biological parents are looking for her?”
“No wonder she came begging for money earlier!” Kashi thought angrily. He got up and, making sure no one noticed, left the living room.
The butler was waiting outside the door.
“Get rid of them. You know how to handle shameless people.”
“Understood, sir,” the butler sneered.
“Don’t make it too ugly. After all, she’s a Kashi foster child. We must maintain our family’s dignity.”
“Don’t worry, sir.”
Kashi went back inside, and the butler respectfully closed the door.
Inside, Decker and Joanna were reviewing their plans, standing by the clue board, frowning in thought. Seeing this, Kashi felt a surge of pride.
Joanna was an outstanding graduate of the National Police Academy. The family didn’t want her to work too hard, so they arranged for her to get a clerical job. With Decker’s reputation and power in the FBI, Joanna could easily marry into a prominent political family!
In such an important moment, Kashi had no time or energy to entertain Irene’s impoverished parents.
However, Kashi would never have guessed that today would be the day he’d regret the most in his life!
Evening, South District.
Irene was teaching a group of young girls self–defense.
Her lessons were strict, and she had warned them about her rigorous teaching style, which scared away many. Those who remained were genuinely eager to learn.
After instructing the girls to do stretching exercises, Irene checked her phone.
She canceled an order.
Someone had commissioned a painting from her last month. Irene liked the
theme and the money.
But she couldn’t find the right paint, so she had to cancel.
Any other painter would be harshly scolded by their clients for such a reason. But for those wanting to buy the Witch’s paintings, this was quite common.
Many had tried to uncover the Witch’s true identity, either to profess love or seek revenge.
But none had succeeded.
On the dark web: IP: 16,807 (Witch): Order canceled, deposit refunded.
On the dark web: IP: 809;20: No need to refund the deposit. Consider it a gift.. By the way, could I know why you canceled the order?
Irene didn’t see the reply. She put down her phone and clapped her hands.
“Alright, ladies! Let’s start today’s practice!”
After the session, the exhausted girls slumped on the ground or the couch, guzzling water.
One girl timidly approached Irene. “Irene, could I hire you for something?”
The girl, her hair messy, wore simple long sleeves and old sneakers.
“What is it?”
The girl, eyes red, said, “Irene, I heard from Emil that you beat an FBI agent. today. My brother passed the written exam for the FBI, and in a month, he has the combat test.”
“He found an FBI official to train him, supposedly a high–ranking one, and they demanded 400,000 G dollars, promising to get him into the FBI. But my family doesn’t have that much money. Irene, could you train my brother?”
“Do you remember that person’s name?”
The girl bit her lip and whispered, “I think it’s Decker.”
Irene pondered.
Decker was indeed capable but used his abilities to favor the rich, ignoring the
poor. He often stole credit from state police and once caused the ruin and deaths of several families.
“Alright, I’ll help.”
Irene smiled.
She listened quietly to the girl’s complaints.
“Isn’t that extortion? And it blocks many talented people! It’s outrageous!”
Irene’s voice was soft: “Don’t worry, fate will punish those who are corrupt.” Under her auburn hair, Irene’s beautiful eyes glinted with icy malice.
