Chapter 9 Foolish Kashi Family
Irene’s expression was reminiscent of a priest comforting his congregation in
a church.
The girl didn’t take Irene’s comfort to heart. Such words were often said but rarely came true–those who committed many evils never seemed to face real punishment.
She was lost in the joy of Irene agreeing to help, unaware that anyone from Irene’s mercenary group would avoid Irene when she had that look.
The quieter the scorpion, the more deadly it is.
“Alright, girls, let’s practice. Repeat the moves we did earlier!”
As irene watched the girls, she took out her phone.
“Good evening, Miss Irene.”
The deep voice carried an iron will and the scent of gunpowder from the first word.
“Good evening, Frank. I have something you might be interested in.”
“Oh?”
“Decker is selling FBI internship spots.”
The man on the other end simply grunted, indicating he was already aware.
“I have evidence.”
“How much do you want?” Frank’s tone changed.
“Free, as a gift to you. We are old friends, after all.”
The man didn’t waste words. He simply said, “Thank you. If you need anything, even if it means letting you go during a pursuit, just say the word.”
Irene laughed heartily, “An ambition without capability is worthless, Mr. FBI.” Irene smiled and hung up the phone.
Frank worked for the FBI, belonging to a faction opposed to Decker. Both were
constantly trying to bring the other down. Frank was an elite in the FBI, highly capable, but Decker had been in his position longer, had complex relationships, and a powerful background. It was a stalemate.
Now, Irene had given Frank an opportunity to take Decker down.
Would the ambitious Frank miss it?
Irene laughed.
Of course not.
She tapped her phone and sent all the evidence Little Black had found to Frank.
Frank acted quickly.
At the Kashi family villa, Joanna was pouring wine for Decker. Decker graciously called all his students over to introduce them to Joanna.
“Jóanna, the rising star, kind, capable, a wonderful girl. I see her as my daughter!” Decker said loudly, patting Joanna on the shoulder and raising his glass.
Helen’s face turned red with happiness.
Many of Decker’s students were in the FBI, and some were even in the CIA! All the money they had given Decker was finally paying off. Helen and Kashi were overjoyed.
In this pleasant atmosphere, one of Decker’s students suddenly burst in.
“Teacher! Something’s wrong!”
“What is it?” Decker looked displeased. “Being so rash, how can you accomplish anything?”
The student glanced around nervously, then said, “It’s… it’s Frank! He’s here!”
“Frank? Why is he here?”
“Who is this Frank? How dare he interrupt Mr. Decker’s event! So rude!”
“I am Frank.”
At the door, Frank entered with a group of armed FBI agents.
“Don’t move! Hands up! Interfere with the FBI, and you’ll be arrested too!”
“Take him away!”
Decker could no longer concern himself with the Kashi family. He was pressed to the ground by the FBI agents, angrily shouting, “What are you doing? Are you crazy? How dare you arrest me?”
“We’ve confirmed your involvement in selling FBI positions, Mr. Decker,” Frank said, smiling condescendingly.
Decker’s face turned pale. He fell to the ground, shattered glass from a broken bottle embedding in his leg, but he seemed not to feel the pain as he cursed.
“You despicable rat! You framed me! Bastard! I’ll hire a lawyer!”
“We’ll see soon enough if it’s a frame–up,” Frank said coldly. “Take him away!”
As Decker was taken to the car, his mind was blank.
Cold sweat d
glaring at Frank.
his body, but he tried to maintain a composed facade,
Only he knew how guilty he felt.
Decker was confident he had left no evidence, that no one could trace anything
back to him.
Had he been careless lately? Had someone found out about the money he had taken from some unstable young trainees?
Impossible! He only chose those truly capable of joining the FBI, never idiots! Even if someone failed, they’d think it was their own fault!
No, he couldn’t give up now… he couldn’t go to prison!
Decker clenched his teeth.
If I find out who betrayed me, I’ll make sure they pay!
In prison, Decker’s first request was to see his lawyer.
The lawyer, who had worked with Decker since they were young and was deeply tied to him, hurried over with a briefcase.
“This must not go to trial. It needs to be resolved within the FBI.”
“Who can handle it?”
“I know someone who can, but besides money, you’ll need to give him a rare, expensive collectible gun.”
“It’s hard to get such a gun at an auction quickly.”
“Don’t worry about that.” Decker remembered Kashi once mentioning that the old lady of the Kashi family had a valuable gun that no one was allowed to touch.
“Kashi people are from a small place and haven’t seen much of the world. Scare them a bit, then offer them some benefits, and they’ll hand it over.”
The lawyer nodded. “Understood.” Clearly, this wasn’t his first time handling
such matters.
“What? Mr. Decker was framed for accepting gifts and selling positions? That’s ridiculous!” Kashi shouted, knowing full well his family had also paid Decker to secure Joanna’s position.
The lawyer, in an expensive suit, smiled. “Yes, Mr. Decker needs your help.”
Seeing Kashi’s hesitation, Helen, fearful that Joanna might not get into the FBI, smiled and glared at Kashi. “What do you need? We’ll help!”
The lawyer smiled. “That’s great. Mr. Decker will be infinitely grateful, and his gratitude will benefit Miss Joanna.”
Helen beamed, but Kashi frowned slightly.
His business intuition told him it wasn’t as simple as Helen thought. Being taken by the FBI meant there was solid evidence. Even if Decker avoided jail, could he still help the Kashi family?
The lawyer noticed Kashi’s hesitation.
But he looked at the excited Helen and, smiling, stated his condition: “I heard the old lady has a valuable gun.”
“A gun? My mother’s gun isn’t worth much. It was bought for a few pennies long ago.”
Kashi awkwardly laughed.
“Not valuable, and yet the old lady treasures it?” Helen scoffed.
“Forget it. If Mr. Decker doesn’t want to take from others, we have other
families to consider. The lawyer stood, straightening his suit, ready to leave.
Seeing the lawyer about to leave, Kashi hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth and called him back.
“Wait! I’ll send someone to the old lady tonight!”
The lawyer nodded coldly, his smile dismissive. “Do it quickly. Mr. Decker will repay your kindness.”
Kashi eagerly saw the lawyer out, his mind filled with dreams of wealth and power, forgetting his own mother.
The lawyer’s promises were empty, but the Kashi family believed them completely.
